Topic: Macro and midstock agencies

Hello everyone,

My activity as a microstock shooter has grown in the last year (the first year, actually), also the income, and I'd like to try some of my photos on macrostock and midstock markets. I have an account at alamy, but I left only one photo there, as RF. They're very relaxed when it comes to inspections, as I saw. Of course, having one photo means that I didn't sell anything. I'm getting views but that's all.
Anyways, I would like to have a list of macro and midstock sites where I can try my stuff.
Any experiences on this?
TIA.

So why share the fact that you've sent him a 'private message' on a public forum then? This is supposed to be a forum not a dating service.

I believe that you have seen until now on various forums (which you perhaps visited) this action, of letting one know that he / she got a private message. If you go to your account options you have the choice of disabling email notifications. Some people do this - disable notifications, except for some certain topics they create or want to follow up. More clear for you now?
Thank you for your invaluable contribution to this thread.

On topic now... if anyone has anything more about midstock / macrostock agencies.

The idea of a forum is to share things, therefore my question.

Not entirely as I've not seen this before. What if you haven't sent someone a 'private message' (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), should you also state that as well?

If so __ I haven't sent you a private message (just in case you were looking for it or have/have not disabled these notifications of which you speak).

Isn't it just easier to send someone a private message, err ... privately? If they've disabled their notifications then that basically means that they've deliberately chosen not to be informed of such actions. Surely by informing the entire forum you've then overridden their preference for privacy? Bizarre.

I apologise for my sincerity, I think you're simply being stupid. Or faking to be one, and then you're a very good actor.
I guess I'll rather direct my search to other forums.

No, I was merely pointing out how ignorant, pointless and irritating it is for people to post 'I've just sent you a PM' on a public forum.

Your attempted justification was every bit as ridiculous as my answer __ the only difference was I meant my answer to be stupid.

Maybe you could send all of us a private message.   Wink
It would save a lot of searching to find a few macro/midstock sites.
Are they hard to find?  If so, why don't the site administrators make them more accessible?  Sales might increase.   Cool

Exactly __ well said. This place is supposed to be about sharing information and any stock agency is more likely to be successful the more good contributors it has. It also means contributors are less likely to prop up the bottom-feeding agencies if they have somewhere better to go __ which ultimately helps all of us.

Hm , now Im confused , more than what ? More then nothing that was publicly written , or more then anton9 wrote in his PM ?

You cant add something that wasn't mentioned , if you don't know what was mentioned , and it would be waste of time and forum space mentioning same thing twice , cause It was probably mentioned , or it wasn't ?

Yes, more than nothing - exactly. Of course I'm wasting my time, but it looks like it is indeed MY time.
And the line was meant to be ironic, to prevent useless crap like your post in the quote to show up. It appears that lizards indeed have a very thick skin. And of course, skull.

I have read other topics about MICRO,MID and MACRO...

But I am confused...

I understand the difference between macro (RM) and micro(RF), but where is the difference between the MID and MACRO?

Someone called Alamy MID, and someone MACRO ...
What is the truth!??

What are Zymmetrical or Cutcaster, and can I upload same pictures on SS and Zymmetrical for example!?

Well, as far as I learned about this:
- the difference between micro and mid would be the pricing, and licensing types. Midstock would offer RM, which microstock doesn't. Well, maybe those SR-EL from dreamstime are RM, I don't know about other cases.
- macro puts accent on RM/RR mostly and the prices are bigger. Also, more difficult to get into those agencies - there is a Getty thread somewhere here and you have to pay a tax then you can upload, etc.
- Everyone is advising NOT to have on mid / macro the images you have on micro. In some cases you might be required not to be represented by a microstock site, if you want to get into some certain macro sites.
Alamy I think it's midstock, in my opinion.

I agree Whitechild, there seems to be a ery high level of rudeness about these days. Forums are great for spirited debates and should be. But plain, schoolyard name calling serves no one, especially those who sign on to actually learn something. It's not just this post I've seen it in many the past while. Here is my word of the day,

decorum |diˈkôrəm|
noun
behavior in keeping with good taste and propriety : you exhibit remarkable modesty and decorum.
• etiquette : he had no idea of funeral decorum.
• (usu. decorums) archaic a particular requirement of good taste and propriety.
