Topic: F-Stop and Shutterspeeds

I found this on the internet and thought it was rather interesting especially for those of you who don't understand how different f-stops and shutterspeeds can produce the same exposure. A lot of photographers go by what the camera says and don't realize that there are combinations that work just as well.

Of course you need to have the auto ISO off and set to where you want it.

Here's a website that explains the Zone system to help with proper exposure. Again it is helpful if you are having problems with understanding exposure and how it effects the final picture.

A very long time ago, iStock had a wiki you could print out and laminate.  It was two circles that when you attach to each other you could match up shutterspeed and aperture.

Don't have a link but maybe another forum member knows what I'm talking about and has a link.

I've done Google searches and can't find it.  It's something similar to this....

Ed if you look at the PDF file on the first link...on page one it shows the two rectangular ones, but if you go on down to page two and three you will find the round one that you can connect together which I believe is the one you are referring to..

Ed there is a pdf link on the flickr page you linked to. It is a pdf copy of the wheel that is on that flickr page.. I didn't know if it was the one you were wanting or a different one.

It's very similar to what I was thinking of.  I don't think the iStock one had EV listed though (iStock may have been trying to make it easier for new contributors).

The last time I saw it was in 2006 or 2007 sometime if I remember right.

Thanks all Smiley

I always shoot manual and used to have a sliding version of this years ago, but lost it.  I like the rotating one better and will make that up.  Great!  Grin
