Me and my business partner have been brainstorming for company name ideas as we are about to start a new stock image venture.
I have come up with ripepic.com and he got picmojo.com , a long discussion followed but we still cant decide between the two  Huh so we decided to have a showdown!
Please vote for your favourite and feel free to post your opinions,
Thanks Smiley

They're both not good.  Developing a company identity takes more than a couple of drinks and a website name generator.  For instance, what is 'a new stock image venture'?

Well it will be a website that sells images as per usual stock definition, with a unique selling point of course but for now i cant disclose that.
Trouble with names is that all the meaningful ones are no longer available as a domain (a short and memorable one at that) which is extremely important for a website business.

If the selling point is that unique (doubtful), base the name on that.  Or pick a non meaningful name.
Hoople
Freda
Imagitix
Jookuu
etc..

I feel RipePic makes you start and top too much.. the two p's are hard to say together.

picmojo has the double meaning of pick mojo and picture mojo which could be good.

I chose picmojo, but I am not crazy about either.  If you want to go with the "ripe" concept, perhaps Juicyphoto or Juicypix?

I agree with Leaf on the stop/start issue, and I agree with Lisa that picmojo is the better of the two, but it doesn't appeal to me very much.

Juicypix sounds great to me.  Assuming it's not already taken, of course.  If that works out, you'll have to give Lisa a cut of your profits for creating your name though...  Wink

Ripepics - first thing I see is rotten fruit.  Second thing I think is bad smell.  Maybe your word ripe is meaningful where you are from, but does it translate. My son's hockey equipment bag is ripe.

Picmojo - first think I think is you've ripped the idea off from photojojo (another name that I don't like but they seem to be doing quite well with it, so what do I know).  The word Mojo is almost a cliche now too.  It is young, hip, trendy and does not instill a lot of confidence.  Do you think you will be intune with this name in 10 years?  What about taking out the M?  picojo?

A customer will be able to remember ripepics first, I don't think they'd remember picmojo without writing it down.  It's kinda clunky somehow.

I've been trying to name a new company for a few months now and it's enough to drive one mad.

Some of the most successful companies in the world have names that are nothing to do with the business they're in, if your product is good people will remember your website no matter what you call it.

I remembered that long before micro I put a few photos on a 'juicy' stock site and thought it may be juicypix, nope it was juicystock.com (a dead macro site which gives me errors if I try and log on), juicypix.com brought up "the you must be over 18 to enter this porn site", juicypics brought up another Smiley.  I agree with the juicy variants I think porn site or mens magazine.

I agree with others ripe has multiple meanings and picmojo sounds like something run by or for schoolkids (I must be too old Smiley
