Title: Selling Photoshop Accessories
Post by: cardmaverick on March 07, 2013, 01:10
Does anyone know of a place that sells photoshop related accessories like brushes, etc..? I've been working on little set of tools for my own work and have been considering selling them online. I've considered direct sales as well.

DeviantArt is probably my first go to place, and most stuff is free. Good luck making money, it's even worse than stock.

if you're making actions you may have more luck building up a following through facebook groups. there's a couple of v successful pages that's full of soccer mums buying actions and starting their own portraiture businesses :( but frankly, the effort involved in that surely negates the income?

*as always, sorry to my soccer mum friends

They aren't actions. I kinda wonder why anyone would buy an action, but that's just me I guess... My tools are actually hard to find on the web, hard to make, and I suspect the right audience will be willing to spend $10 or so on them.

I have bought actions and brushes (Cheaply), the really valuable of both... people keep them for themselves.
There can be a problem with using other peoples brushes, unless they are specifically released as free for commercial use.

I've had a site request that I add a link to the license for the brush(es) used in my illustrations for the reviewer to read. Some of the brushes out there are sold for personal use only and not for commercial use. Some brush authors request attribution if their brushes are used commercially (lots of brushes for sale on those digital scrapbooking sites). If the brush is really unique it is almost like using someone else's work in your own.

cos they aren't trained in photoshop. they bought it and have learnt some basics, but can't write actions.

plenty of other reasons too. the world's a big place and there are lots of cashed up soccer mums with DSLRs.

*as usual: have plenty of soccer mum friends, love them all.

You might try daz3d or renderosity marketplaces, they sell lots of Photoshop brushes. Also Turbosquid sells a few.
