Hi,

numerous agencies - FT and BS come to mind first - ask you to specify whether files you upload are 'photos' or 'illustrations'. For those of you who upload 3d renders, what do you choose? It seems that they accept images no matter what is selected, though. But then again, buyers can filter 'photos' or 'illustrations' out... What option do you prefer?

Thanks

If it's not a photo then it's not a photo - as simple as that.

If a buyer wants a photo realistic 3D image it should be found in the illustration/3D category IMO.

Haha, I didn't choose illustration with my renders. I do agree a photograph is a photograph (photon-graphic) but I consider my renders to be a photon-simulated-graphic -  so it's more of a photograph than an illustration.

I know IStock categorizes 3D renders as Photos presently.  I think because they are pixel based.  I think it's a bad sytem cause confusing for buyers.   Smiley

IS insists they're photos, DT, SS insist they're illustrations, FT doesn't seem to mind so I go with illustration.
