Dont put text in your images, you just limit your sales.

I like to make my own fonts or hand drawn text to avoid any changing or future conflicts. You can never really go wrong if you created it.

you can use standard fonts. You just need to convert them to outlines.

Standard fonts (what do you call standard fonts?*) are free to use but are they free to use when you get some profit of from their use?

I think you can use any font that you have licensing to. I have quite a few illustrations with text in them.

Be sure to outline the font though. It will be declined if you don't.

She means the fonts that includes operative system like windows... i never read the OS licence, but as i heard before you can use these fonts if you have the OS licence, that means; if your OS is not pirate one...

The fonts aren't usable once you convert to outline. All the sites accept images with text, as far as I know. iS wouldn't accept any illos with text for a while, even hand-drawn text, but they got over that.

I don't see why not. Again, the text would be unusable.

This is correct. You can always use the fonts which come with Windows or Illustrator or Photoshop (but you must convert them to outlines). I would only add that while you can download fonts online for free, you may not really get a license to use them. Fonts are for sale on sites such as fonts.com and myfonts.com. You must pay for those fonts to legally have a license to use them.

Do as you please as long as they are not editable fonts but outlines. If this is a vector illustration make sure to say that they are on a separate layer/group, in case someone wants change it into another font.

Most of the micros tell you to NOT use layers.

And yes, while there are some free fonts out there, you might want to check the readme. Some are outright free, some are free for private use with an additional fee for commercial use or whatever, so on and so forth.

Best bet, if you didn't buy the font, come by it legitimately, or it came with your system, then you shouldn't have it anyway. Font design is kind of like microstock in a way. They just kind of sit there and make these delicate, complicated little art words and then give it to the world and hope it sells. (Though, they've never really stooped down to our penny per barrel type market, I'd imagine that the good type designers are doing quite well, except the dead ones.)
