I signed for a free account to take a better look.

OK then, now I can see the account, and the site seems terribly slow, anyone else or is it just me. Now it's time for my SEVEN uploads. The limit.

Upload reads Title and keywords, description is up to us. Pick a category.

Although I can promote for: Cost per view: 5

So do I get a view for this or just from the gallery pages? I thought there was something about, post to facebook and have people look. By the way, this is one of those not visually suitable for stock of mine. My right foot after a log was dropped on it. Whoo Hoo, what fun. I tried to make a folder for "why I limp" not sure if it worked? Nope I can't seem to make a folder yet.

Odd but true, I got four messages and a subscription, which all vanished, along with three images. One of the comments was "remove this" another was "this also" they were all my foot which I thought was kind of fun?

Heck yes, I'll be rich in no time with people just looking at my foot Druid Circle Photo!  ;D

The current estimated payment per view is $0.0014

I got a note from one of the originators about my removed photos. I'm beginning to like them better. Someone is actually watching what goes on and hopefully it won't be like some "Fine Art" places, where copyrighted stolen or illegal use is ignored. Maybe they have something good going, but I'm not going to hold my breath about making any returns, until I see something actually happen.

Wow Pete only 17,000 more views with that 5 second catch and you'll have $25, maybe?  ::) They will promote you if you pay, which means pay per view at your expense is here. We can pay to work for nothing now.

Out of interest how many views do you need on Flickr to get $25?

Promoted images are for gaining further exposure, more subscribers etc and are not compulsory to use. It's similar to advertising for Facebook likes but unlke Facebook your reach isn't reduced. Also useful if you are selling photos for example

I've never been paid for a view anywhere, including the Micro sites. Clickasnap could be the exception. .0014 cent a view if someone looks for 5 seconds? Why do you charge 5 cents to promote views on your site? I'd need 35 views to break even. Pay per view, but we pay to have people view. How does that work out.

Because when people promote their content they are promoting it outside of their normal organic reach.  The idea of promoting content isn't really to gain a net proft on a per view basis, rather, either to sell photos to a larger audience and/or gain further subscribers thus increasing viewership of your photos uploaded in the future and/or increasing the likes/comments/views on an individual photo thus putting it higher up the most viewed/liked list. Promoting content is more about discovery and longer term goals than short term profit. As i mentioned previously, it is akin to gaining more facebook likes/Twitter followers to show your content to.

I must stress though, you do not need to pay to promote your content, it is purely a quicker route to higher views that some people choose to take. If the content is of a good enough quality the users of the platform often share it to their subscribers and photos can gain considerable views and users considerable subscribers through this methodology. We are also investing heavily in SEO technology and marketing systems to increase our existing user base of circa 1,500 uniques per day
