Title: Anyone Sell on Blend Images?
Post by: angelawaye on June 19, 2017, 13:33
Hi everyone,

Does anyone sell on blend images? I have a bunch of exclusives I don't know what to do with.
It looks like they do royalty free and exclusive:
https://www.blendimages.com/stock-image-pricing (https://www.blendimages.com/stock-image-pricing)

Do I get to decided if the image(s) goes royalty free or rights managed?

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Do you shoot ethnic models, that is what they specialise in. A good niche to be in.
I think its pretty hard to get in and you are expected to shoot regular briefs of models.
Could be worth your while if you are interested in shooting ethnic models on a regular basis.

they sell also in fotolia i saw...like special contributor.
in my opinion if you not make good in micro stock you want expect to do good in rm, if you don't have thousand of images as portfolio with multiple themes and very high quality.
they look good anyway.

Thanks guys! No, I don't shoot ethnic people. I do mostly children so I bet I won't fit in then. I'm just looking for better mid stock agencies out there...

Blend is a distributor and they do work with adobe-ft. There are better Rm agencies. I wouldnt bother.

my suggestion is to diversify...the problem for what i can understand is not micro stock...is the fact you shoot one single theme , who is largely over shooter by a lot of people there...there are hundred of father in micro stock shooting their children.
child is not a niche who can give you a lot of exposure today in rm. niche don't exist anymore apart 2 3 theme but they are difficult to achieve.
so in my opinion and shooting fo rm also, u will be equally disappointed.

It depends! but with your material I have seen a little ( brilliant) I would rather go for agencies like Trevellian and Arcangel. They love the stuff that you produce. Like tailormade for it.

But does that translate to buyers loving it, I mean do these agencies have a strong buyers base that generate sales for that niche?

I also agree with Derek. Cultura, Blend, Image Source, Hero Images, OJO Images,....are dedicated to shoot mainly lifestyle images.

With your portfolio you will have a better chance to get accepted and sell images at the mentioned Trevillion and Arcangel. Take a look at this:

Getty would be another option. But it is dissapointing to see RM images that have cost a lot to sell for so little. But Getty is on the radar of all the book/CD publishers that need many times exclusive rights for their book covers.
