Topic: Are you just getting sub sales now at DT?

(Read 1069 times)

We discussed this a few times recently.  We see a healthy mix of credit based and sub sales at DT, then it's like someone turns off the faucet, and we only get sub sales for a while.  Then after a half or full day or so, the faucet is turned again and we see a lot of bigger priced credit sales.   It's maddening, but we get used to the pattern and know the big credit sales will return.

But now, is it just me or have the credit sales been pretty dry for many days in a row?  I still get some, but instead of seeing about 60% credit and 40% subs like what used to be a normal day, I'm now seeing about 20% credit and 80% subs.  I keep waiting for the pattern to break, but I think it's going on a week now.

(I do a pretty decent volume at DT -- around 20-30 downloads a weekday -- so it's a sizable enough sample to draw some conclusions... and I'm not liking those conclusions at the moment.)

I don't do a ton of volume there but have noticed that all of my downloads for the month of July are all subs.  Not liking that one bit.

From time to time (usually after what seems like a flood of subs) I look at the last 20 sold, and usually it is between 9 and 13 subs.

DT does seem to have some weird on/off sales patterns. It seems to go every few days for me. Maybe it is based on getting x number of sales and then you get shuttled to the back of the line for a spell and if you get 20-30 sales a day it kicks on and off more rapidly? Perhaps sub buyers see things differently? I don't know. It could just be our human brains trying to find patterns in somewhat random events (although perhaps subs sales are more regular and it is the non sub sales that are more sporadic). When the non subs are in an off spell it seems like nothing but subs. Right now my DT tap seems to be off for subs and regular sales - however my sales are probably small enough to make statistical analysis somewhat weak.

It could just be ebb and flow.

right now of the last 20, 9 are subs and 5 are painful level 0 1 credit sales (< .35 return)

11 of my last 20 are credit sales. And nice big ones too as lots of my images have been downloaded 20+ and they're at or near top yield rates.

Exactly the same here, Lou.  11/20 are credit sales.

I always tend to get a good mix of credit and sub sales at DT.  Unlike FT, where the vast majority of my sales are now from subs, DT credit sales are holding up nicely.

14 of my last 20 are credits but the previous 20 had 13 subs and just 7 credits (ebb and flow?).

11/20 is subs. Well, that's basically 50-50. Good thing that credit sales provide good earnings (got one $8 and one $6 in the past 20, this is something I never get in the others unless it's an EL). Also get mostly subs in FT, and in the end the RPD is sooooooooooo low.

11 of my last 40 sales were credit sales, the rest were all subs.

I was somewhat pleased to find out that the subscription sale commisions go up once you reach level three.

14 of my last 20 are subs, with one credit at .23 cents, worse than a sub.  Plus I had a nice .11 cent dl at IS.  Things sure are looking up, boy.

It figures... within an hour of making the original post, the faucet turned back on and the credit sales started pouring back in.  Seriously... I went from about 80% sub sales to about 80% credit sales just like that.  These sudden shifts are very strange.  But I can't complain now.  In fact, Monday has turned out pretty great... looks like my 8th BDE overall, but mainly thanks to SS, FT and IS in that order.  DT is a distant fourth today thanks to the credit sales being absent for most of the day.

Okay I got confused earlier.  3 of my 13 downloads there this month were credit sales.  10 of them are subs.  Still kind of a drag there for me this month.  Hopefully August will start and upswing when people aren't on vacation and the kiddies are all back in school.

Must offer credit when it is due.  DT is running neck and neck with SS, so far this month.  RPD is a satisfactory $1.07, which is good for me.

But... I'm not a 20 download-a-day kinda guy.   Tongue

No, I have about a quarter subs and three quarters credits on last 40 sales.

Yesterday 10 sales and only 2 were credits, but they were for big amounts, due to the color coded levels system ( which i think is great!).
Today 5 sales so far and all are credits. I don't think there's much of a conclusion that can be drawn from such a small data set, except to point out that, for me, more subs sales seem to add to the overall numbers, and not take away from the credit sales numbers. The total opposite is true at FT, where the subs have destroyed the regular credit sales almost completely. If I had to choose, I'd drop FT in a heartbeat. And I might do it anyway.
