I have been rejected several times in shutter and fotolia images by trademark. Images are similar to these:

However, if you search the word "emoji" in Shutterstock or Fotolia, you receive hundreds of thousands of results.

My question is: can these types of images be uploaded or not?

Is the problem copyright or trademark issues?

They can be very different

My question is: can these types of images be uploaded or not?

I think you answered that yourself here:

However, if you search the word "emoji" in Shutterstock or Fotolia, you receive hundreds of thousands of results.

needless to say, human reviewers and bots can be overzealous, just to be on the side of caution.
