If you're going to step in here and make grandiose claims without identifying yourself, you're going to get questioned.  You seem to be taking this personally that people were questioning your anonymous motives.  Now that we know who you are, offer unsolicited advice all you want but don't be crushed when not everyone responds in kind.

This has been blown way out of proportion.

This valid point has already been made in a previous post/thread and the OP immediately came clean with their port links. No need to beat a dead horse.

Time for everyone to lighten up!  Smiley Smiley Smiley

I'm trying to explain to chumley why he got the response he did.

Of course, now that he has edited and cleared out almost every one of his posts:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1492;sa=showPosts
we can't really go back and see what happened, can we?  Now we all look like idiots, talking to ourselves.

I thought this was all about sharing your experience for our benefit.  Why did you clear out your history?

I'm sorry you feel that way, chumley.

Yes, there are some people here who tend to post negative things, but most aren't like that. I've improved my on-line life by ignoring those whose posts I find aggravating and inflammatory. I hope you consider staying here and doing the same. If not, then best of luck to you!

Well, if anyone cares to read any of Chumley's advice, it's still cached at google, and you can partake of it before google refreshes.

You don't have to play the martyr.  However, I already explained how some things came across.  If that wasn't clear enough, then I don't know what else to tell ya.

Stick around if you want to.

Looks like you've chosen not to heed my advice, then.
Too bad.

Start a blog Chumley if you want to share information.  There are many of us who will be interested, and you will be able to keep to the topic and cut through the noise.

Great idea!

and please... don't delete your posts as we all do look like idiots talking to ourselves and worse yet... it drives everyone else nuts wondering what juicy bits they've missed.  Wink

In another thread chumley was used as an example of open-ness , sharing , someone to look up to .. I'm somewhat taken aback by the toys out of the pram twist shown in this thread.

This whole thing reminds me of watching two Bighorn Sheep banging their heads together so hard they stand stunned and bleeding.

We all stay in competition in very hard competition. That is the reality and therefore it is not a good idea to share too much knowledge of the market.
The good thing we can stand together against Agencies like we did recently against FT and StockXpert.
You started to openly here Chumley and now you are totally quiet that are two extremes a middleway from the beginning would have been the wiser approach. Stick around Chumley its a nice group and i guess even RT is okay ;-)!

I'm curious to know what information Jonathan gave out that was so dangerous to some of you? Information is always available to those that are willing to look for it. Its what you do with information that is important. I believe that if someone wants to be successful you can't stop them. It takes talent, knowledge, motivation, passion, etc..

Maybe a couple years from now microstock will be filled guys like Jonathan, who knows?

If you want to see current market trends go look at Yuri's port and sort by age. If you want to see how much money people are making go to Istock and do the math. not exactly top secret. I could never do what Jonathan does, no amount of information is going to change that.

If anything, I think Jonathan has been a source of inspiration for some of us. Nothing wrong with that.

Hi cdwheatley was this a response to my post? Did i use the term dangerous Roll Eyes
I agree more or less with the rest of your post. (Yuri don't make trends but the rest is fine with me)
It's easy to compete on the same price level. But to offer a link to a macro portfolio in a Microstockgroup is not a wise idea even then they can't beat you on quality but they can easily beat you on price.
Good ideas get stolen that is matter of fact Lise and Yuri both stole the jumping fish idea as an example.

Nah, not really directed at you  Smiley but just wondering why people are feeling threatend. People are always going to steal ideas. I guess it depends on the individual and whether or not they can stand to look at themselves in the mirror or not. Yuri's port was just an example of market trend, obviously there are many others. Getty site might be another good source of info, ya think? Or take a trip to the bookstore and check out the thousands of magazines that are available.

Problem is a lot of the pro stuff is very hard to shoot, at least for the type of stuff I would like to do. Elaborate sets, professional models, wardrobe, difficult to get to locations. All costs money, money, money.. So, most of us are probably limited in that respect.
