Got this email from deposit photos this morning:

"We would like to inform you about changes to the Promotional Program. Our inspectors will be constantly reviewing your work. During their inspection they will make a decision to grand you permission to enter in the Promotional program or not. Only selected photographers and illustrators will be able to participate in our Promotional Program.

We apologies but you are not able to participate in Promotional Program at this time. You still have a chance to participate. All you have to do is continue uploading pictures and illustrations of the highest quality. As always, you will receive your standard commission for photographs and illustrations sold on our site. You will receive an email notification if you are qualified to participate in the Promotional Program."

Do my photos suck so much!....Dont answer that  :)

Or are they phazing out the promotion now.

I knew i should have dumped all my photos on there, but i dont like overwelming the reviewers with lg uploads.

If i knew this was comming i would have at least uploaded enough to get my $50 payout.

Did anyone else get the above email.

Does that mean my images are good enough that they will take them but not good enough to take part in this program?

Yes thats what i assumed it ment~ "we will take your photos (if we have too AND lock them in for SIX months) but were not going to pay you/honer the .20c agreement we had".
Thats just RUDE.

The way i see it is:
we had a contract through the open invitation ~i could upload up to 500 photos and make $100 for the upload and they get to keep them locked in for the SIX months and build there micro biz with our content.
as i see it: Buy uploading even one photo the contract went into effect.

never did they say we will decide if we want you to participate. They said upload your photos and if they are accepted you get.20c for it and we get to keep it for 6 months.

What a wast of my time!

ONLY reasoon i uploaded was cause of the up front pmt. I would have NEVER wasted my time with a new co. like that.
I lerned my lesson when i first started uploading to anything and quickly realised, im wasting my time for nothing

All things must pass. They have plenty of good content now, and the first mice got the cheese. If your main engine starts running smoothly, you disconnect your starter motor.
I predicted they would stop bleeding cash on this operation (200,000$) when they reached 1M images.

thats really rude but i have learn my lesson too.

i will tell all the people i recommended this site to that they shall not submit there and i wont upload a single image anymore.

i hope all the people that have been locked out will do this.

man that really makes me angry!

Same email here. "Bait and switch!" I agree with Zenpix's statement that we had a type of contract. They agreed when we signed on to a certain amount of uploads. Nowhere did it say anything about "until we get a certain amount of images" or anything to even imply they would stop prior us reaching the 500 images.

Ok, i cooled off a bit now, not too much steam comming out my ears  ;D

In doing so i now wonder if its a automated thing?

For example if ones acceptance ratio falls below a certain point, then the email goes out to you.

Then if your acceptance ratio rises above the min they have set, they then let you back into the program?

Mabey i will upload a few more (accepted pix) to see if the ban is lifted.

I just got a bunch approved and was paid for them. Maybe you need to contact support and find out what the deal is. I've not gotten an e-mail message from them.

I got my email after I wrote to them about "questionable" acceptance/rejections lately, specifically comparing what I was seeing on the "newly accepted" images tab when logged in. I wasn't trying to be rude, just trying to figure out why so many images from a certain area were getting through, and it should be obvious to anyone looking as to why. I thought I wrote the message in a very diplomatic way, and was just trying to figure out what the policy was. I guess I must have unintentionally stepped on someone's toes. My acceptance ratio is way down, mainly because they are rejecting all of my fractals, abstracts, and other specific location images which I won't go into here. Yet I was seeing tons of them from a certain area being accepted. I am not new to stock, so I understand that every site has its own acceptance policies. And my skin has thickened quite a bit over the past two years. But when the acceptance of certain images are in-your-face biased, I just need to get a clarification. It makes a difference as to whether I continue to waste my time uploading or move on.

I guess they run out of cash. I was not quick enough with my submissions, now I have 401 images accepted. I took one payout of $50 when I was able to get it and now I will be left with remaining balance until they start selling anything :-)

eheh I got my $ on November, it wasn't even for approved photos, all photos counted!.. I got like 400 accepted from 500 uploads, but still got the 100$! Days ago more 10$ for a banner :) Sales nothing..!

RULES now:
Lets work together!
Getting started is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Register a Sellers account it is absolutely free and places you under no obligation of any kind;
2. Pass our quick exam (it is easier than you think). We just ask you to send us five samples of your best work for evaluation.
Don't worry, our review process is very informal. Just send us your best work and you'll do fine!
3. When you pass the test successfully, you can upload images onto the site at any time, 24/7.

I am going to delete all my unfinished files. This site does not allow you to mark multiple files for deletion so I wrote scriptlet that can be run from bookmarks. It will delete all files from current page.

FYI: below is from there promo page...they have changed a few things.
I bold/highlighted the things changed/new

"Add Your Photos To DepositPhotos.com!
At DepositPhotos, it is our mission to be the premier internet resource for stock images. Currently, we are actively seeking partnerships with top photographers and illustrators. If you consistently produce great pictures or illustrations, then we would love to see your work on our site! That is why we are making a very special promotional program available to the most talented photographers and illustrators.
We are aggressively seeking more and more great images to sell in our image library. As a result, we are running a special Photographer Promotion Program. Sellers who get selected for this program will get paid instantly for each and every original image that is accepted to DepositPhotos.

That is like getting FREE MONEY just for sending us your photograph!

We Will Pay You For Every Image You Add!
Only selected photographers and illustrators will be able to participate in this Promotional Program. During the standard examination process, our examiners will be looking for top photographers and illustrators to participate in the Promotional Program. Only the most qualified individuals will be granted access to the Promotional Program.
We value every photographer and our goal is to provide an arena that rewards each one based upon their skill level. DepositPhotos works hard to provide photographers with an easy way to sell their work. Through our site, we think you will find that you are able to make higher profits than anywhere else, with the least amount of hassle.

Photographers who were not immediately accepted into the Promotional Program still have the chance to participate. All you have to do is continue uploading pictures and illustrations of the highest quality. As always, you will receive your standard commission for photographs and illustrations sold on our site. However, inspectors will be continually reviewing your work for possible inclusion into our Promotional Program. The more pictures you submit, the better your chances of being selected. You will receive an email notification if you are accepted to participate in the Promotional Program."

Ok, so its not due to acceptance rating.

no offence guys, but where are you going ?

if you're crap feel free to deal with these guys like 123RF and other agencies i've never heard before.

but for anything else, if you're serious about stock make yourself a good edited portfolio and apply with Getty.

if getty dislikes you there's still Alamy, AGE, Masterfile, and at least the option of being istock exclusive.

why wasting yout time and dealing with such fly by night operations like 123Rf and the gang of low earners ?

The problem is that many of these agencies want you to be exclusive with them (e.g Getty, Masterfile). I think Alamy and Agefotostock allow you submit to other places. For me, small fish, putting everything into one basket is a little bit risky :-) Also if I compare my results from Alamy and Shutterstock it's just ridiculous how much hassle submitting to Alamy is in comparison to return.

RM is a different beast.

to sell on alamy, you need at least 5000 images online.

i mean, there's people on alamy making 1 or more sales a day, but what they're selling is very very different from what you see on istock.

i don't mean it's better, as usually it's crap or looking like snapshots, it's just "different" in any way,
that why buyers can only find it there.

I kind of give up on Alamy cause whole process takes to long. In order to have 5000 images there it will take years (I do not even have 5K on SS). I do not have enough experience to figure where each image would be accepted so all agencies get the same stuff. This probably reason why I am failing on Alamy cause they want something else. I also started with Agesfotostock but so far I got just few images accepted and I am not spending much time on them. Looked at Masterfile and exclusivity is no go for me. Funny thing year after starting with micros Getty wanted some of my images from Flickr and I had to say no cause they are all over the internet with micros :-)

100 pics a day == 3650 pics/year.

i uploaded 120 today for instance.

problem is, if ONE image is bad, the whole batch gets rejected and they make you wait a few days too.

as for Getty RF i can't see where's the big deal about it ... the only reason to join getty is for their RM
sales, their RF collection is nothing special nor they sell more than the Alamy and the gang.

I got the email too, just as I was approaching the $50, $4.78 away. Over the last month I've been sending small batches, 2's and 4's and they've rejected probably over 90% of what I sent them. Where as they would virtually take it all before that. I have had 4 sales, 3 of them being subscriptions and I'm sure I'll get to the $50 with referrals and more sales. Anyway no more uploading for me.  :)

edited: corrected the subscription figure

I got the email too.  I'm totally confused my acceptance ratio was near 70%!  I was already accepted into the  program and actively being paid.  Reading above, it says if you've already been accepted you'll be allowed to continue, well that seems to be false!
