Why is it that I never get any extended license sales? I've only had one so far on iStockphoto. Is it a numbers thing or just the type of photos I'm shooting? Thanks.  Smiley

I think it's got alot to do with luck. I have had one each on shutterstock and dreamstime, but none so far anywhere else. I sure wish I knew what the secret to selling EL's is, but all I can guess is that the larger the portfolio, the better the odds.

(Alot of help I am.. Wink)

I have only had one myself... and my images are totally different from the OP.

So, I don't think there is much rhyme or reason to it.

I think getting ELs is mostly about how high your sales rate is: if you sell a lot you'll get ELs regularly. After a while you can almost smell one coming. I haven't counted, but offhand I'd say I get 1 EL for every 1000 or so sales, though sometimes it spikes, and I'll get a handful in a week or - even better - a day. It sure is nice when that happens!

It seems that most of your images are isolations.  I don't think that isolations sell many Extended Licenses.

Most Extended Licenses are used for resale on items (e.g., mouse pads, coffee mugs, etc.).

Had 2 on SS but I have a small portfolio. One isolation and one that is not. None in awhile though.

I have had quite a few with FT and SS.  istock isn't as good.  I have had 2 with LO but so far none with DT or StockXpert which I find a bit strange.

Knowing it's not isolations and the rationale behind it helps a lot - great post & thx.

I firmly believe the more "arty" images do better with EL's.

I had 2 or 3 whit Fotolia, but I don't know what prevent any buyers to take the picture at normal price and print it on cofee cup or anything. What's the % of chance that they get caught and what and who will do something about a potential bad use of a picture taken from stock agencies.

As I know there's not so much infos given by the agencies about this??
