Title: EyeEm
Post by: ole999 on January 18, 2019, 11:12
I can't understand the system at EyeEm. My images are released for sale - but not at EyeEm ..? Maybe at EyeEm 'partners' ...??? What's going on? I have tried to communicate with EyeEm but I don't understand  their answers. Can somebody enlighten me?

EyeEm has a market and partners (Getty). Your pictures can be sold on both or just their market. Each picture you select to be on market will be subjected to be selected to partner.

I have images on EyeEm. About half of my images are on EyeEm and the other half are on the EyeEm partners. It seems for me the only sales I get are from the partners. I have never had any sales on the EyeEm only. The sales are fairly good on the partner sites.

Ok - but I am at Alamy and Adobe. Wonder how you get at EyeEm ... let’s see what happens ...

As far as I know, they only use Getty even if they say those partners. Anyone actually know if they have EyeEm pictures in alamy or AS?

I don't have much there but the only partner I've ever been notified I have an image on is Getty

Maybe they notify ONLY Getty but actually have them on Alamy or AS? I doubt it. The whole process of tagging is very getty-related (their own keywords).

I think it's worth it if you have pictures that are more artsy and not so stocky. It's a little bit social which I don't mind neither.

For me to be honest no. I think its one of those sites that works well for those with the right content. The Upload/Tagging process is horrible and time consuming.  But try it out its the only way to know if it works for you.

Upload only the ones you think might be accepted based on their style. Keywording is not as bad since Getty actually destroys it after selection lol. It is also useful to follow ideas and inspiration. I like their app, it's the only one good looking. I prefer EyeEm over 500px to access to Getty.

OK, thanks guys for the advice! I think I might try that out for a few months and see how it works. It seem to be a bit different from the others.

Every other site I can upload the metadata from the JPG for Eyeem I have to enter each word individually. I can't even copy and paste a block of text. Or have I missed something?

You are right. I normally use the suggested and add some manually but really it doesn't matter since Getty mess that up

Yes - it's a bit of a drag to fill in the keywords one by one. And they also have AS and Alamy as partners. And AS don't accept duplicates so it's difficult. Do the parteners notice you if they have your images on their sites ..?

So far I only get Getty notifications

I like EyeEm very much, the photos look very good, they accept a high average of photos and I sell with them. But the best thing is the payment system ... IMMEDIATELY sell and collect what you sell !!! ESo speaks of a healthy company without debts all day.

The sales that were reported yesterday happened in DECEMBER on Getty. And NO direct sales have not been reported for at least 2 months. They are NOT reported real time!

Anyone seen major drop in earnings this month? I've been selling 200-300 images on Eyeem every month, and this month I got only 65 downloads. Earnings also went 75% down comparing the previous months.

Yep, same here. Big drop in partner sales compared to previous months. But I had some direct sales through their own marketplace about two weeks ago. Hadn't seen one of those in a while.

At what number of files in partner collection did you saw your first sale in eyeem via partner?

Isn't that shooting yourself in the foot if you upload to Alamy and AS as well as Eyeem? If two identical images are accepted, you'll surely get less commission from Eyeem as you'll get the distributor price vs standard royalties on AS and AL.

Since they mess up the metadata via EyeEm, the picture can appear in different type of searches...

I don't think Eyem partner with Alamy as far as I can see the only partner they actually have is Getty.

I think that was also somewhere mentioned by eyeem staff about nonexclusive content on istock or 500px or any other place that gets distributed to getty as well.

The eyeem collection has new metadata and it has it‘s own ranking in the getty system. I haven‘t yet been able to find my duplicate files together in a test search.

I always thought it was stupid to destroy our metadata and replace it with irrelevant keywords and descriptions. Now I know they are genius instead.

I had a few hundred photos on EyeEm for about a year and a half. Half of them were selected for sale on Getty. I made a few sales, not enough for it to be worthwhile for me.

At the beginning of this year I closed a few accounts with stock agencies that were not selling my images so that I could focus on the agencies where my photos do sell.

I closed my account with EyeEm in early February. Most of my photos have been removed, but there are still a few dozen available for sale. I received notice of a sale by email at the end of February. EyeEm support says they have no record of the sale "on their side" (it was a Getty sale) so they are not going to pay me, despite the fact that I provided confirmation of the sale. I can no longer login to my account. I have been back and forth with EyeEm Support for about a month. My photos are still available for sale, and I am not being paid.

Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience.
