Title: Food and Landscape Stock Photography
Post by: hongee on September 12, 2017, 21:17
I have been selling stock photos for a while. But sales is not very good. I would like to seek some pointers to improve sales.

I mainly shoot food and landscape.

Should I leave more copy space in the photo? or any other pointers

Here is my portfolio in one of the agencies:

Many thanks

Hi and welcome!

I'll comment on your travel stuff since still life isn't my thing.

You were unlucky and you visited Cinque Terre on a cloudy dull day and unfortunately the colours don't show (although you got a hint of sunshine in one of our pics). Clients rarely download cloudy images of colourful places for obvious reasons.

As for your other travel pics, they seem to be the same angles as 1000s of others and look overprocessed (HK and Manhattan).

The milky way shots look awesome.

Overall, a good start. Lastly, I would suggest to try to use more models (model-released) within your shots to increase their value.

For food stuff I suggest to get closer to the subject.
 :)

Have a good day!

Your from Hong Kong? ...I'd say you don't need to travel to do travel pics you must know the city better than the average visitor look for the more interesting stuff on your doorstep. Many of my good sellers are from less than 15km from my house.

Yes, and don't make 100 times the almost same picture of the same subject.

Good luck!
