The author actually made a few mistakes:

- Dreamstime sales are based on size, with the web size paying .50 and the print size paying 1.00 (not the flat .50 as stated in the article).

- BigStockPhoto has over 500,000 photos (not 100,000 as stated in the article).

I've wondered how much of his revenue was from his photos and how much was from the referrals. I posted a comment asking that and also wondering why he was attempting to hide the fact that they are referral links instead of regular links. The comments are moderated though so it never appeared and I never received an answer. Like I said in the comment I have no problem with following a referral link if it turns out to be a good deal but it seems sketchy when a person tries to hide the fact that it's a referral.

I've just posted a query on the site, too, asking about the status of referrals. Let's see what happens.

StockManick - I saw this website when I first started and I think the only thing he updates is the monthly earnings and the graphs (or are these automatic) so all the info is probably out of date unless he can be bothered updating when he updates his earnings.

I've wondered how much of his revenue was from his photos and how much was from the referrals.
I wondered this also but the numbers dont look too skewed toward shutterstock compared to the others to suggest excessive referral income.

I dont have such a problem with this.  The internet is all about advertising and if you advertise for someone, you should get paid.  it would only be dodgy if the referee was somehow disadvantaged which is not the case.

If I had a website, I would do a similar thing on one of its pages.

I don't have a problem with it, either.

What is not quite so good is that, by erasing posts that refer to this, he seems to be trying to hide the fact. Why hide it? It's perfectly legit. He's providing a service and should get paid something for it.

Exactly the point. Why remove the status bar information so that one can plainly see what a link is and why not allow comments about referrals. If I found a new micro through him I would be happy to sign up with his link. Just seems odd that there was extra effort made to hide them.
