Times have changed. Many used to upload to as many agencies as they could. I remember one friend who was approaching 50. Also with the automated software, it's much easier to upload to many. The subject has come up recently and I'm just wondering how people here still feel about everything everywhere or if the distribution has changed to being more selective?

If anyone wants to explain why, that would be interesting as well, but I just wanted a simple survey of how many places do you usually upload to when you make a new image? So please don't include dormant or ignored or those that have your old work, but don't get anything new. Not Video or audio or templates or POD or any of the alternatives.

Only who gets new still images, illustrations, Etc.

Just Stock Image and News Agencies.

Some have fallen away but it's still more than 10 agencies I upload to, thanks to automated software. Otherwise it'd been the top 5 agencies only.

By the way, although it's an assumption, ONE probably means someone is exclusive but not necessarily. Someone could choose to only upload to one place. That's why I included that option. Results are interesting so far. I hope more will take time to click one circle.  ;D

Another issue, at least for me, is the number could change. This isn't rocket science, just a general, how many do you usually upload to?

I'm down to five now.

The others were dropped because

Zoonar, YAY, Panther ~ poor sales
Deposit ~ for poor sales and poor royalties
GL, Can stock~ no sales
123rf ~ poor sales and the royalty cut this year
Getty/iShit ~ for every reason under the sun
Bigstock ~ because I'm no longer a masochist

Envato ~ only when I think an image has a high possibility of being accepted on account of their blatant favoritism for certain photographers and ridculous image inspection process (accept an image then reject it four days later).

I only submit to them because of contributor share scheme

I only upload to just a few and only a few illustrations at a time.
I would love to upload more animated clips if I have a more advanced computer and if its worth while. As of right now I only do very simple animations since I worry about the rendering to be too much on my computer.  8)

I should add that even though I've dropped agencies and ceased uploading to the majority my earnings have actually gone up over the last two years.

But no thanks to SS or Adobe whose sales have declined even with regular uploading

Submitting to ten.

If I exclude the latest joined, because of video that now also accept photos, I'm just submitting to the same ones I had in 2007 or so except for one joined in 2014.

Never were the type to run after every new agency, especially when it was obvious that the project had no ability to compete with the top ones even back then, when things were still at the beginning.

A lot of people thought otherwise and we ended up with endless price wars between agencies, dragging prices and commissions down. The new ones tried to gain market share through low prices and the larger ones tried to keep customers by matching those prices.

All this was very discussed back then, with some people warning about the consequences of spreading the work through all the amateurish agencies, but most could not care as long as they could get $1 total out of those tenth of agencies per month.

12 years past and none of those new agencies are even close to the middle tier and most are dead doing who knows what with the images they got, but the damage is now done and it's irreversible.

Indeed: I currently choose only to upload to Alamy.
