Today I got a Facebook message from some @sshat (oops, I mean "Growth Hacker") from Freepik asking for free work for their disgusting free site. Just a reminder that they stole vectors from me and others and gave them away on their site for years until I caught them. Apparently they now have recruiters getting in touch with people trying to drum up more free work. Keep an eye out.

They are also posting in local facebook groups. The posts are by a person called Amancio Garca.
He said they have more downloads and visits per month than Shutterstock etc.
I think I also saw advertisements by them.
Unfortunately people are uploading images on their site.

I wonder why there is no Freepik discussion in the topics section.
Moderators should open one subject regarding Freepik.

No they shouldn't. Freepik shouldn't be given any oxygen.

Setting up a section gives the impression they are a legitimate site. They aren't, they are shady AF.

They set up scraping vector content from warez sites giving away our stolen goods, e.g. allfreedownloads, they were very open about it too. If I remember correctly they even had the gall to demand attribution to freepik if you didn't have a subscription. This is for content which by that time had been stolen twice over.

When it bit them on the a** they took all the cash they made from that to employ people to create very similar copies of our best sellers on the stock sites.

If anyone uploads work to them my guess is that they will see what gets the downloads and just get one of their in house employees to create a copy. With complete access to the stats it's even easier than going through searches on legit sites to find out what sells.

Thanks for you response. impressive truth.
I am totally agree with every word you said.
I tell you one think.
this site could be what you say and as everybody know are stealing and making money for themselves not correct way etc. but there is one thing, my friend has an account on mostly all stock sites and freepik also, and making about twice bigger on freepik than all other sites together. So, yes its stealing, but make good profit for contributors.
Would you accept that your hard work have just been rewarded?
seriously,
you work and make money - we all work for money.
Maybe, for those who do not care about stealing their works it is no problem unless they making money from it?
what do you think?

what other people think?

please share thoughts.

thanks

this total bu***st. according to you we should quit SS, fotolia the legal website and join hands with illegal thieves, what logic are you giving.
There are plenty of free illegal website available hurting contributors a lot by uploading their content illegally.
I have been approached by few free websites requesting me to join but their website is full of copyright content. They don't have any rules or laws for protecting content.

Brother all that glitters is not gold. Stay away from them.

And you are happy about poaching work for your site and stealing from other hard working, honest artists who rely on their sales to support their families? Seriously, I would love to hear your honest response to this.

Here's a thought...how about they pay me for all the downloads my work got on their site for years. If they pay twice as much as everyone else combined, we're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars. Have them get in touch with me and I'll tell them where to send the check.

Hello everyone!

I am part of Freepik Company and I would like to clear a few things up. Please, note that I am speaking as a part of the company.
Freepik does not copy or steal resources we work with contributors who add their designs on Freepik website. They upload their work and Freepik, with the rights of redistribution, shows them on our web.
We take copyright infringement very seriously and if we have a notification of such case, we do not support it, we block the designer who uploaded stolen image and we delete it from our web.
In case you have seen any copyright infringement of your work on Freepik website please, contact our support team at newbielink:mailto:[email protected] [nonactive] and we take actions immediately.
Thank you for reading,
Have a nice day! :)

Any part of this history incorrect? If not please tell me how anyone can take your comment that you "take copyright infringement very seriously" as anything but a joke.
Unless you mean:
"We take copyright infringement very seriously, it's how we made our money!"

Good topic, I don't know how or why anyone would submit to this place. I suspect the person who claims they make more money than SS and has friends who make good money are shills for FP. How does anyone make anything there? Of course if someone makes $10 a month on SS and $20 a month on FP that's "twice as much".  :)

Maybe Tanya or Supermax can tell us what FP pays per download? Nothing on there site about actual numbers. Data and hard facts, not "I know someone who"...

Hello,

I am currently working with:

SS
Dreamstime
Vectorstock
Graphicriver
Adobe
Alamy
Crestock
Pond5
123rf
DepositPhotos
Freepik

Keep wasting your time on places like Freepik, DP, 123 and Crestock, soon you'll become discouraged and find some other unicorn to chase. There are people here who have invested ten years (or more) in the business, smart people, very talented, and they aren't wasting their efforts dumping on the weak parasite agencies.

Looks like Freepik is up to new BS.

Do a search and take a look at what is labeled as "Selection" (most of the results in other words. The stuff with an "S" in the corner). It's defined as (on top of every image page):

Freepik Selection are all the exclusive content designed by our team. Additionally, if you are subscribed to our Premium account, when using this vector, you can avoid crediting the image to Freepik

Now do a reverse image search and, what a surprise, nope not exclusive, not owned by them (not by their "team") but the stuff contributed by regular contributors and appearing on other stock sites.

So similar to when they were "appropriating" stuff from Warez sites, they are claiming ownership and asking to be credited as owners for work that isn't theirs.

So well done if you contribute to them I guess?

examples (just the first two I happened to click on):
https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/big-opening-best-party-for-all-festive-banner-with-confetti-and-red-streamer_2438265.htm

https://www.123rf.com/photo_98912862_stock-vector-big-opening-best-party-for-all-festive-banner-design-with-confetti-and-red-streamer-on-white-backgro.html

https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/abstract-elegant-eid-mubarak-religious-background_2382031.htm

https://depositphotos.com/197750708/stock-illustration-abstract-elegant-eid-mubarak-decorative.html

ETA. even worse perhaps, looks like "Selection" does in fact include their in house work too. So they are throwing in work contributed to them and their in house stuff in the same "exclusive" collection and labelling it as being owned and created by their "team" (not sure if they are still scraping stuff from warez sites into the mix too?)

The second pic seems to had been uploaded on both sites by the same user and around the same time (3 months ago). Only difference is the underscore in the contributors' names.

But the first pic was uploaded by two totally different names (Katemangostar on FP and Redlinevector on 123RF). I can't tell if they're the same person / people.
Katemangostar's success story is highlighted as a top contributor on FP though:

https://www.freepik.com/blog/success-story-katemangostar/

Edit: Just found that Redlinevector is also using the same name on 123RF as on SS, Behance, Fotolia, Graphicriver, etc. Don't know why they would use a different name just on FP if they are even the same person / people.

Pretty sure they are the same person. FP may not want them to use the same name if they are falsely claiming images are exclusive to them (which IMHO is clearly illegal and false advertising).
