Based on what you said you've been doing for the past six months I'd guess you're subtly suggesting optimisation of the meta data.  I've thought about this quite a lot over time.  Yuri says it makes a big difference and he does a lot of it, but Andres says it doesn't make any difference and doesn't do any of it. Do you have any insights from your optimisation sabbatical that you'd care to share with us Stephen? Or is it too commercially sensitive to share in such a competitive environment?  Wink

..or am I totally off track?

Sorry, but I've said about as much as I'm comfortable with.

Overall this was a BME for me! The breakdown as follows:
IS: Nearly equaled my March 2009 BME:                               46%
SS: 2 EL's gave me a major increase over past months          32%
DT: Down nearly 20% since last month but still ok:                12.5%
StockXpert: Sloooow and steady wins the race.  Up from last month 9.5%
BigStock: almost a no-show this month                                       NIL

Somewhat disappointed at SS and FT. SS has been dripping down month after month...

Here's my graph

It is all the sites monthly average so far this year, with the lines that go onto the following months being overall earnings from previous years.  The overall earnings are on a different scale than the monthly averages.

also the one that is labeled canstock is really
Canstock + crestock + featurepics + yay + mostphotos

I think this illustrates two things:
* some vital sales elements are (seemingly) beyond immediate control
* constantly uploading is not necessary to maintain or build sales

As to not understanding how you achieved a record sales month, I think you'd be wise to investigate how and why this happened.

I know of one major micro agency which utilizes Total Downloads per Total Images online in its search results.  The higher your DLs per portfolio size ratio, the better your search position for all images.  I would not be the least bit surprised to find other agencies take it into consideration.  There is argument to be made that quantity is a hindrance if quality is not adhered to.

This is the second month in a row that DT beat SS, this month DT made more than 50% more than DT. All agencies except DT sold less than usual. At DT I needed 35 cent for a BME.

If you know this agency why don't you name it?

For the same reason Sharply is not going to spell out exactly what he has learned about the IS keywording.  I did my own tests and validated the results.  Nothing you cannot do too.
