Hello,
I have 10,000 raw images I will be processing this winter.
I would like to submit some to ISTOCK and others.
To save time what is the quickest workflow from RAW to finish.
I have DPP and Pixvue, and I am willing to purchase anything that will speed this up.
Will I have to enter info ( beach, sunset, couples etc ) once in Pixvue and be done?
Or do I have to enter this again at each stock site? Tags? Keywords?
I am confused, but ready to learn.
Much thanks,
Ken

THe main feilds in Pixvue are the title, discription and keywords.  All sites should pick these up though some images just refuse to work (I have about a 5% failure rate with pixvue).  it will only work on iStock if you use an uploader tool sucha s image manager or theplugins to appeture etc.

The full version of photoshop might be the best if you have that many as there are good batch tools and processing can be done in the same program rather than using several.

I was using Photoshop (full version) but just started using Abobe Lightroom (in conjuction with Photoshop). It is only Beta software but is currently free to download and try for both Mac and Windows. Be warned...it is still a beta product so be sure to keep backups of all your original files. Download it here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom/

It runs wickedly fast on my Intel Macbook Pro and I absolutely love it. (No I do not work for Adobe)

Good luck!

Thanks Lora & CJ.
I have PS CS and I have the beta Lightroom as well.
I did not know I could enter metadata with PS CS.
I thought/heard that PS was slow for RAW process.
Even though I am using two programs, DPP/Pixvue,
I thought/heard it would be faster then PS alone.
Thoughts?

I do raw in DPP, edit in elements 2 and keyword in Pixview.  works well

I understand you could do all in one with PS CS but I cant comment though as I dont have it.

I edit the raw in either Adobe lightroom or photoshop CS2, and then further edit the files in photoshop.  I generally add metadata to the files using a program called Imatch Image Management.

to edit metadata in photoshop just press
ctrl+shift+alt+I
all at the same time and the info box will come up.

This link here is also a really great but simple photoshop plug in for keywording / spellchecking and getting out the duplicate keywords and counting the keywords.

Well thanks again guys.
I may as well try both Leaf and CJ's workflow since I have the software.
Last question, in Pixvue ( PS probably as well ) there is a line for copywrite.
Is it necessary for my STOCK entries to have a copywrite?
Is it $30 for 750 images ( can't remember where I got that figure ).

I dont, I assume the agencies add their once copywrite.  It is easy to strip out so I dont think it provides much protection.

I use Exifer for my IPTC data, sometimes editing keywords in Irfanview (because it allows me to add them in any point of the list, a feature that is important at least in one site).

Istock however fails reading my IPTC data.  I have already reported it to them, they said they were aware of this and would see, 5 months later it's still the same and I emailed them again yesterday.  It can't be so difficult to make it work, given that all other 12+ sites I use (except Gimmestock, but who cares?) read them well.

Regards,
Adelaide
