How was your May? I'm busy tallying up my numbers... I'll post my graphs soon. Overall the month was good though, perhaps mostly thanks to lots of uploading.
-
BME on Shutterstock, Mostphotos, Stockfresh, Crestock, average month on DT, FT, 123rf, poor month on BigStock and Canstock. Istock earned me less than half of April's earnings :(. Is Istock really going down?
-
Good month! IS, lots and lots of P+ sales, SS, great as usual with DT and FT, doing fine. Slight increase at Alamy as well. Good news is that RM, is also beginning to really escalate.
-
May was great month for me: BME - total, Fotolia, Dreamstime, 123rf, CanStock, VectorStock, Big Stock, Deposit, first sales on Cutcaster and Alamy, great month at Zazzle.
Average Shutterstock, Veer, PantherMedia and GLO. And Zoonar - stable zero.
Strange to me is that Fotolia still earns almost twice more than Dreamstime for me. It's same every month.
-
Overall average. IS disastrous. While I understand that being small earner means more fluctuation, IS was pretty steady with monthly earnings in last 1/2 year - $78, $113, $99, $87, $103, $106 just to fall to $17 this month.
I'm just happy I'm not relying on the income. If I would fall from $1000 to $170 (same proportion), that would be much more painful.
-
Incredible month for me, expecially on SS (where I had an image selected for the home page and another one in the "fairy tale" featured lightbox :)). BME everywhere but on Fotolia I sell in a month half of what I sell on SS in a day...so, it's really frustrating and often I ask to myself if Fotolia is really one of the 4 big...unbelievable :-\
Better on Dreamstime.
So
Shutterstock (my only great love :)) : + 178%
Fotolia: + 63%
Dreamstime: +250%
But, just to understand the difference, on fotolia I had 7 downloads, on SS 580 :)
Are you sure that fotolia is one of the 4 big!???
-
Real numbers:
BME at IS (exclusives at 25%) 1,200$ - fifth BME in a row!
7% better then last month, 490% better then May 2010
1 EL download
415 downloads
Over 2,000 images
-
BME on SS by far, average on IS (tnx to P+).
-
may was down 20% on last month
Up 5% on last year's May (portfolio 26% bigger)
Istock and Fotolia sucked big time
First sale on stockfresh
Dreamstime and shutterstock okay
not much action from the rest
% of this months earnings
IS = 20%
SS = 39%
DT = 23%
The rest = 18% spread fairly evenly across FT,123,BS,CS,Veer
-
very very very good month!
Shutterstock is always the king with 52% of total income with more 23% earnings from previous BME (last month) and a little over 900 sales
IS is perhaps finally giving some nice sales, will be the first month over 100$
123RF keep on climbing with more sales and $ than FT and DT!
Fotolia after a long run with increasing earnings had a drop, amount of sales pretty much the same, around 100 but at a very low RPD comparing to other months (a lot of subs..)
Dreamstime a little drop too but nothing serious
BigStock ridiculous sales, never seen that before..
CanStockPhoto a last day nice big sale saved the month there that was just like BigStock
SF had 4 sales, hope they keep on coming
will post on my blog as always in a few weeks
-
BME for me on IS in terms of $$$ DL numbers are also the highest they've been for a long time.
Lets see what the summer brings....

Looks like you might have been on the better side of some of the best match changes.
Istock for me was down about 45% on last months $$$

Not a good month for me. SS did well but istock was my worst month for years. I haven't uploaded there for months and hadn't put anything in P+ until last week. Might have to change my ideas now, as my earnings are really taking a hit. Most of the other sites are around average but FT was down, perhaps because I haven't uploaded much there either.
-
Ok.. here is my graph
(http://www.microstockgroup.com/holdingbin/microstockearnings201105.png)
it was a BME, mostly thanks to Shutterstock where I made 2x the amount of income as any other site. Shutterstock walked away with a whole 39%. the other pie slices were pretty regular, except Alamy which was a bit higher thanks to a few nice sales.
-
Istock: BMY for downloads (which isn't saying much) but second lowest for $$, partly due to no ELs, partly due to spread of sales being more biased to lower sizes.
Compared to May 2010: dls 15.5% down, $$ 27% down, again partly due to no ELs.
(I had almost double the dls in May 2008, with about half the files, all taken on a 350D or scanned from 35mm slides. Go figure!)
>:( :'(
(2 Alamy reported sales, better than 0 last month)
-
Great month here. Although sizes are going down sales increased enough to get a new BME for DLs and $$.
No EL though. None since February which is strange. I´m istock exclusive.
DL up 20%
$$ up 5%
-
Overall down because istock
SS - 20% - good
IS - 18% - Really bad, a little over 1/3 of march, earn't more in in 2007 with less than 300 images, photo+ seems have made a shocking april even worse,
DT - 15% - average
FT - 14.8% - average
123rf - 9% - BME
veer - 7.5% - BME
can - 5.5% - v.good
BigStock - 3% - down
panth - 1.3% - average
dp - 1.1% - avg
zoo - 1%
most - 1%
yay - 0.8%
sxf - 0.6%
fp - 0.5% - down
-
Pretty fantastic month. Up about 8% from April, and about 90% up from May 2010. Going on three years in microstock. I know in my gut the wall is supposed to be coming, but so far, it's not even in sight. My RPI, measured on a daily and monthly basis, continues to grow with no signs of slowing down. (As your port ages, that's not supposed to happen.)
-
^^^ I hit the wall after 4 years, had the same experience as you for the first three.
-
Fantastic month at SS, that's my 2nd month in there though and it's really doing great for me. Bad month as for IS, FF, BigStock.
-
Meh. Barely up from last May, around 4% increase. Mostly because of iStock underperforming compared to last year. Big surprise.
-
Not a bad month, and pretty much in line with the general upward trend. I was overwhelmed by two great months in March and April where I seemed to get a large number of enhanced downloads that really pushed up the earnings. Normal levels in May, but still upward. I only managed to get another 70 images online as I focused more time on writing my step by step guide to Stock Photography...
Interesting stat - I got another $4.50 from Photocase this month, on my grand total of three (!!) images online. If only I could have such a return per image on the other sites! As usual, more details on my blog.
{edit} - the second image is files on line, not earnings on each site, in case anyone was having a heart attack.

Other than iStockphoto being down about seventy percent, everything else is average. I think I will put most of my Alaska pictures on Alamy as RM, though.
-
BME at Dreamstime - this site is finally picking up for me, good month on SS and FT (still my best earner). Istock - plainly sucks. Saw a huge drop in income there last month already and this month has only been slightly better (a dollar or two more in earnings). 123rf is also bringing some sales, but am miles away from a payout there.
What I love seeing is that my playful concepts series (http://mellimage.blogspot.com/search/label/Playful%20Concepts) brings in a lot of sales. I plainly have a lot of fun shooting that series.

This is my stock photography sales statistic for May 2011. You can find a complete list of stock photography agencies (http://stock.hlehnerer.com/SA.html) that I work with here (http://stock.hlehnerer.com/SA.html).
These are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for May 2011:
Shutterstock (http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=169666)
Dreamstime (http://www.dreamstime.com/res514425-dreams-time)
DepositPhotos (http://submit.depositphotos.com/?ref=1001442)
StockXpert (http://stockxpert.com/)
May was an OK month it had a decrease of 18% compared to April. But then April was a very good month. It was the best month ever for Shutterstock (http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=169666), and Clipdealer (http://www.clipdealer.de/).

May was pretty crappy for me. My iStock earnings were about 50% less than the previous months since I dropped my crown there last fall. In fact, I made less there the entire month of May than I used to make in a week before they (iStock) screwed up the site so bad.
The good news for me is that both DT and SS are picking up sales. I'm slowly building ports on other sites and my plan is to double my ports on these other sites by the end of the month. so right now I'm mostly tracking my port size so I can concentrate on building. I posted a brief update on my blog, if anyone cares to read it. :)

Last month as an exclusive and although it was much better than April 2011 ($$ up 26%) that isn't saying much as April was a wreck.
Compared to May 2010, downloads were down 18% and $$ down 11%. I had one more EL in May 2011 than May 2010 so roughly comparable.

Oh you're not calculating ELs as earnings? Is that how earnings are calculated in stats threads? Because I've always reported about the total earnings (meaning ELs were added to normal DLs). I'm even throwing PP earnings in.
-
I do count ELs in the earnings total, but wanted to point out there wasn't a big discrepancy in ELs between May 2010 and 2011. IOW it was a fair comparison.

Hi All,
Worst month at Istock yet. Every month keeps dropping like a stone as I add new images. My other agencies are all performing up to expectations with Fotolia starting to out perform Istock, Istock now down almost 70% in the last three months. I was at 20,0000+ credits at the end of the first 3 months into the year now I am at 22,264 going into the 6th month. What is up, 70% drop? Glad to see the other agencies are holding.
Best,
Jonathan

All in all, sales are up 7% from a positively grim April. They are down 6% on last May, and down 13% from May 2009. A very worrying trend.
Istock sales continue to plummet. They are now a record low of only 26% of my downloads, but thanks to P+ they have gone from 30% of my royalties in April 11, to 35% this month. Lets hope that P+ bump holds and sales don't drop even further.
Fotolia is moving in the wrong direction for me. Sales are virtually identical this month to last year, but royalties have dropped considerably, mostly due to increased subs sales.
Dreamstime is up from both last month and last year.
-
Not great. Most places off a bit compared with last year, Fotolia was the worst of all down more than 50% and DT was down around 15%. In May 2010 10% of my income came from Alamy and last month that was a flop. Deductions for witholding tax at 30% also make things worse. Not really a good month at all.
-
My last three months have been the best ever since I started uploading to the agencies in March 2008. BME for DT, FT and BS with a 48% increase from May 2010.
-
At iStock my Royalties were down from April. May was only 35% of my peak in March 2010 (down by 65%). Worst month since February 2005 when I was still at Gold canister. I went Diamond in January of 2006. Oh for the good old days. I fear the iStock Exclusive bubble has burst.
-
I fear the iStock Exclusive bubble has burst.
A quick read through the IS forums would back you up on this.

I'm afraid IS bubble has burst. It's gonna go down, well it's already going down like stocks at the beggining of recession.
-
i'm slightly up with a small port of 400 images
-
Up 17% from Mai 2010 as an exclusive, with folio of 1700 images, much better than April that was down 5% from last year.
-
RPI (return per image) graph in my last blog post illustrates trends in my earnings.
http://microstock.pixelsaway.com/return-per-image-rpi-from-my-microstock-portfolio-3-year-trends/ (http://microstock.pixelsaway.com/return-per-image-rpi-from-my-microstock-portfolio-3-year-trends/)
IS is going downhill while SS up during the last year, but both are down in June (the graph includes first 10 or 11 days of June.
