Motion Array

SpaceStockFootage:
So I stumbled across Motion Array a couple of nights ago. The name sounds familiar and I'm sure I'd seen it before, but I'm not sure why I'd never been a contributor there. They do video, motion graphics and After Effects templates... no images. So I thought I may as well sign up and see how I get on. It's a subscription site, no direct sales (so low amount per download but hopefully made up on volume)... which isn't exactly ideal, but I thought I'd try it for a few months, see how I get on.

So I submit ten videos as you're only allowed ten items in the review queue at any one time. I get an email 24 hours later saying they need a copy of my ID. I send it over and 24 hours later they've already approved 4 of my items. Better still, less than four hours after my first item was approved, I've already had a sale! Well, 'a download'.

It's pretty good as there's complete transparency on the 'sellers stats page'... it shows the total revenue they've made in that month, the total amount that will be paid out to contributors, how those amounts break down to different item types (videos/templates etc) how many downloads I've had, what percentage of the total downloads that represents, and how much that equates to in real money. No waiting until the end of the month... or the 20th of the following month to find out how much you've made! Just $3.47 for my one download but we'll see how I get on from a volume standpoint.

I'm mildly impressed with them so far... but I'll report back in a month or two.

Hit the $50 payout after 48 hours. Not too shabby, but we'll see how it goes moving forward.

andy_arden:
how many clips you sold to get that 50$? from what i seen their plans are a rip-off for the contributor. if you sold more than 3 clips to get 50$ than i consider it lowers the sales on other sites where you can set your own prices. subs sites should not exist and they exist because there are contributors who likes pennies.

i sell clips on p5 and storyblocks and ss...and for p5 i set really high prices and i still sell 10-15 clips a month with a price per clip of 300$. so why would anybody would sell  for pennies that is something i will not understand..just why drag the market price down? this is also the case with photos

I'll respond to the rest of your reply later, just heading out, but I'm curious how many clips you have in your P5 portoflio?

andy_arden:
i have around 3000 videos, i sell 10-15 on p5, more on storyblocks and even more (the most actually) on shutterstock (from 30-125$)
