Just a heads up folks- a good portion of Europeans will be taking off the entire month of August for their yearly vacation thus expect even lower sales soon.  Looking forward to September when they return back to work...

My August isn't always lower than my July, in ten years, exactly 50-50.

I can't help thinking this site is turning into some kind of gloom cult when we are half way through July and people are moaning about August sales....

Shutterstock is killing my month. At this point European vacations won't really matter to me.

Based on my results it looks like they've started a month early - hopefully they will be back by August.

America - the no vacation nation -  not really a matter to be proud of, indeed!

I don't think many people in Europe get a month off either. Maybe only teachers?

Correct

Incorrect: In another life when I dealt with German and French companies deliveries had to be scheduled round August shutdowns when entire companies would be unavailable through out August.

It's the traditional holiday period over there.

That happens only in France. In Germany it's the exception.

Well I exaggerated but throughout Europe not many people take a months leave in August. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/uk-paid-leave-holiday-entitlement-compares-to-eu-countries-in-europe-in-charts-a6881456.html

Here in Spain things definitely slow down in August. Many companies shut for the month or half of it.

Italy shuts down completely for the whole month of August (like France and Spain).
But in Italy nobody buys stock stuff even the rest of the year, so it is not a factor in this market

Yeah, in the UK, kids get six weeks off from the end of July to the beginning of September. A lot of times the parents will take their annual leave so they can take the kids away on holiday, so the use of annual leave will be concentrated during those six weeks.

Wrong, the Europeans start their vacation at different times, starting in the middle of June and ending during the first days of september. Even the federal states of Germany have school holidays at different times. So you should have lower sales already now - do you?

Even teachers don't *really* get a whole month off. They spend a lot of their free time correcting exams or tests, preparing lessons for the next school year, etc.
