Hello all
I currently contribute solely to Alamy and almost all images as RM.
Is it advisable / possible / legal to also submit some of those same images to Shutterstock ?
What issues should I be considering.
I have also been accepted as a Getty Moments contributor, though I haven't submitted anything and frankly haven't got my head round what a 'moments'
contributor is all about.
Any advice for a strategy involving the above gratefully received.
thanks
Geoff

Alamy does not allow us to have images we have as RF anywhere else as RM on Alamy. You may have them as RF on Alamy, but that won't work with unreleased/need release pics.

If they haven't sold on alamy and are OK for the alamy RF license, maybe ask them if they can be changed to RF.  Then you have no problem submitting them to microstock sites but you have to hope Shutterstock doesn't reject most of them.

Anyway....

It is time that Alamy allows editorial RF. Now with the uprising of editorial on micros i dont see any reason for customes why they have to choose a complicated restricted RM editorial image if they can get a easy to use RF editorial image elswhere. It is time to adapt.

It is comparable to Nokia that didnt want to change also into smartphones on the right time that lead to large market loose. Customers wants simplicity. It is a fact.

RM will stay, but less shares on the market. Bigger loss that even businesses with budgets for ads and photos take decisions following political situations and mode. Recent questions from potential clients: we want smartphone photos from our exposition(but we want to use it as a cover for our magazine), is your photographer young?, we need a young man to photograph our conference, we need graduate, benevole etc. After this you can expect an avalanche of publications how they help youngs to master their professions. And they want to pay only transportation. Stock will survive anyway, ss star will decline, others will come, i saw already hybrids of RM and RF. Will see.

If customers want that simplicity and to pay ahead of time or when they purchase, they have that choice with micro. At least with Alamy we might get micro prices for certain sales to bulk buyers but we get repeat fees.
Not all buyers are dim.

RM on alamy seems straightforward to me and they have plenty of buyers that are used to it.  I don't want to see alamy doing the same as the microstock sites, there are enough of them already.
