If you include your username in your keywords:

1. Why?
2. Have you ever had rejections because of it?

I'm curious how common a practice this is.

I'll begin by saying I do it because I once read somewhere (who knows where now) that it's a good idea.  Grin I think the main reason given was to help find images of yours being sold as someone else's. Presumably the keywords are still in the IPTC data in the downloaded file (is that really true?). I've never had a problem with this until recently, when one of the sites objected. So I'm wondering if it's actually a silly idea after all.

Well, I did include it for the very reason you mention (to find stolen images) and I did have rejections because of it. So I stopped doing it a few months ago. But I must add I found several images this way which were not stolen but which had my keywords copied word by word.

I think it is a common practice at Flickr but have not seen it elsewhere.  Actually, never thought of doing it.  Hmmmmmmmmmmm Undecided

i never thought of that, but it´s a good idea.
Couldn´t you just put it in the IPTC data of the file, and once uploaded just delete it in each site when you choose categories?
would this prevent been rejected but still have the kayword on the image IPTC itself?

Sounds like keyword spam to me...could be why your getting complains and rejections from sites... Wink

Ha!  Cheesy  Yeah, my username is "business-man-handshake".  Wink

I do put it in the IPTC data, of course. It's just that I'll now have to remember to delete it for this site.

Sounds like it might not be worth the trouble. Easier just to forget about it; it certainly looks like it is not a common practice at all. Thanks for the feedback!

I did it for awhile, then got rejections, then read that it was not allowed. Haven't done it since. But I think it's a great idea, and I don't understand what the objection is. There have been many times when I knew a photographers name and it would be so easy just to search for that. Oh well.

Do you recall on which site you read it wasn't allowed? I'm wondering if I (unknowingly) violated more than one site's rules.  Cheesy (I haven't done it on IS, but have at 123, BigStock, DT, FT, SS, and StockXpert.)

I do in Shutterpoint because many other members there do.  I don't think I ever did in micro.  I began to do that in Alamy, but then I noticed my name was found even without it.
