I noticed there are photographers that can upload 30 to 40 pictures or more a month
I would be lucky to get 20 that that are good enough to upload, what inspires those photographers that can think up so many ideas for their photography. I dont do people most of my shots are product, food. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Life ;)

Look around you for everyday things and try to come up with a concept to represent those things in a different/interesting way.

Also look at other photographer's work, but don't copy anything in its entirety. That would be plagiarism of a sort I believe.

A lot of people don't necessarily have 50 ideas, I often see an idea with little tweaks photographed from 20 different angles or with little prop tweaks.  This is very noticeable at FT (where I do a lot of my looking at others works, I find their interface the easiest for just looking at pictures).  When you enter a keyword combo and sort by upload date, you often gets lots of series of shots, sometimes several pages long, where there are only minor differences between the shots.  If you want to boost your #'s of shots (whether it leads to more downloads over a single shot is questionable, but it can't hurt, all it will do is dilute your port's overall earning per shot) this is the way to do it.

I think of new ideas almost everyday, then my family come up with new ideas regularly. I have a notebookon my desk that all ideas get jotted into... One day I hope to actually look at it and shoot some of these ideas :):)

Strictly speaking as a commercial artist and NOT a photographer:
I would have to venture a guess that 90% of my inspiration comes from reviewing other peoples portfolios.

Sometimes I capitalize on only one element from another's portfolio. Other times, I will copy the entire idea, and improve on it,  thus making my image outshine the original.

I rely on my ability to pick out what are the important elements of an image, evaluate them, and then decide whether I am able to  improve upon the theme or elements.

Speaking strictly as a photographer:
I don't feel qualified enough to call myself a "Stock Photographer". I use photographic elements in all but maybe 10% of my images. However I am classified as a "Fine Art Photographer"...the kind of photographer who would starve in the world of stock.

My photography is better served in private galleries, rather than on the stock circuit. This is why I have turned to being a "Hybrid Contributor".... Half artist half photographer. sort of a digital artist if I may.

Just so I make myself clear, I get my inspiration from everyone one of your images. I also incorporate TV ads, newspapers, magazines, billboards, and even greeting cards. Nothing is original in my portfolio that has not been inspired from somewhere else.

I find traveling helps both the frame of mind that it creates and the different things to shoot ...

miz,

how much really is original for anyone.  talking to my landlord the other he pulls out some photo journals from the 30's and 40's.  Plenty of the same poses, plenty of the same ideas... looking through old magazines, fashions have changed, products have changed, technology has changed but it is still ads showing latest technology like a tv :) often on a white background.  I have a nice example of exploding piggy bank the photographer spent 3 days wiring the pieces into place to get the shot, but it still wasn't a new idea then.
