I have a whole load of hi res textures. Do any of the top tier sites accept texture submissions?

They used to accept them but now they seem to reject most of them.  DT and SS are the worst for rejections now.  You could try FT, sometimes they are more lenient.  I don't recommend istock for anything, as it's a time consuming upload procedure, the commission is so low and they favour older and exclusive images.  You might get some accepted there but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Its very hit and miss but the obvious choice is Shutterstock you may well find that they reject the textures for "we have too many of this kind of image" but the one that do get through will sell.

Also I have had some sucess with Graphic Leftovers and Stockfresh

I suggest you to try TurboSquid. They are the biggest online store for 3D Models, Textures and things connected with that branch.

http://www.turbosquid.com

I sell some 3D Models and Textures there too, but just as hobbyist and thus I am faaar from the top seller.
(I make and sell my 3D Models, Textures mostly for fun in spare time. Grin)
Also sales are more rare than at microstock, but on the other side prices are much higher there especially for 3D Models.
+ You can choose any price you want!

I believe you may be lucky there if you have really great quality stock texture portfolio.

I understand. Microstock is mostly for a commercial/editorial use whereas sites that sell textures are more for production use.

www.cgtextures.com is a great site but they are closed to new contributors. Other than that, yeah Turbosquid seems like the best bet.

texturevault.com

Correct if I'm wrong but isn't this a weird term to have to a submitter.

'The photographer can request to be paid when his earnings have reached a minimum of $25.'

It should be "contributor" or "artist" but often contributors upload photographs as textures.

The3dStudio.com

http://t3ds.com/m/468058

from their home page

The3dStudio.com is the oldest and largest 2D & 3D resource site on the Internet. Our collection of 3D models, stock photos / images, and textures for programs such as Autodesk 3ds max, Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, Maya, Vue, Blender, and many others is vast and it is growing larger each day. We are your one-stop shop for all things related to 3D Models, Stock Images, and all types of CGI and graphic design.

Sales are slow, but they pay high royalties - averaging from $3 - $10 per sale with a relatively painless submission process  - i've done better with them than with graphics leftovers, feature, yay, deposit and cutcaster combined

Very informative thread. I might add that another non-microstock market for 3D textures is the Renderosity Marketplace and DAZ, which are a little like TSquid but serve a different group of 3D enthusiasts, who do buy some textures.
