What about total income (vs. RPD) for the same portfolio...?

What about total income (vs. RPD) for the same portfolio...?

I already received my first payout with AS (50$), IS (100$) next month, and this month, my first (40$) with SS...

I'm new in stock, but for me, IS is the best for the total income follow by AS... and if AS is not as good as IS for total sales, it's only because it does not take editorial pic that make up about 35-40% of my portofolio.

I like SS so much because it makes more revenue per month then all other agencies together including is and adobe.

I don't like SS.
But I like less the other agencies.
The reason is simple: with SS i get more than 50% of revenu on the microstock sites.

It's usually #3-4 for me, which means I only like it to a medium extent.  :)

I wouldn't waist my time on stats at this early stage if I were you, insignificant at best, grossly misleading at worst.

A simple answer is.. you earn more than all the agencies even after so much competition.

I've earned more there than anywhere else.

I also remember when they had nearly yearly raises. They also haven't screwed us over as blatantly as places like IS or Fotolia did (with the exception of the referral program, which never benefitted me anyway). A lot of that is because they started out taking a pretty high percentage from the outset, so they didn't need to increase their take. Of course IS started out taking 80% but that wasn't "sustainable" for them so they went to 85%. Fotolia had a nasty habit of moving the goalposts, hopefully Adobe has cured them of that.

I like 2018 SS a whole lot less than SS up to 2012. My all time RPD there is .64

My all time RPD there is .64......remarkably similar to mine.....perhaps there's some kind of cap ;-).

The important words are more then all the others together, and the same for me. That's why I like SS so much.

RPD (all time) at SS can vary depending on when you joined:

ODs came about in middle 2008 and it wasnt until late 2011 when SODs were introduced.
My average is .70 since 2006.

Interestingly even though sales are down - RPD is up every year. Last year it was .91

This month its .97

At iS last year RPD was .67
Jan 2018 was .62
A quick glance back at the last 5 years the average is .62 - the low being .55

I think the reason any of us like any stock company is how much they make us each month.  I would think the overall income would far out way stats like rpd.

This is interesting.  I'd love to be in the same boat with ya on this but AS just isn't coming close to SS for me.  Pretty much same portfolio.

Come back in six months and you will probably answer your own question.

You'd think so, but some people won't even upload to some places based things other than overall income... mainly sale price and commission rate... so they never even have an opportunity to find out what overall income that site would bring.

Like my post on Motion Array. Because you get around $3.50 a download, I got the usual comments... cheapening your work, ruining the market, happy to accept pennies etc. But I don't really care how much I get per download, I just care that in my very first week of selling there...  I made more than I did in the whole of February on Bigstock Photo, Deposit Photos, Dreamstime, 123RF, Fotolia and probably iStock.

A lot if people aren't interested though. As long as the RPD is acceptable for them, then $100 a month can be good and $500 a month can be bad.

What is more important when you have to pay the bills, RPD or total income?

Maybe I'm unlucky but I made 70% less on SS than on AS/FT or IS. Same portfolio and almost same photos sold.

All comes back to the "prisoners dilemma".
What is good for the individual is not good for the collective.

If you are going to sell microstock there is personal advantage supplying all markets (of course balance time uploading versus producing).

This of course has lead to the race from the bottom to just above the bottom back to bottom.

If you have something really high quality or niche etc then supplying to the top end is good idea.

If people had a fixed need of images and they were only available at high RPD agencies happy days.

But we don't have that, subscriptions sales and buyers choosing based on cheapest price means that we have the situation we've got.

Yeah, but this relies on a completely inaccurate assumption that A) Every buyer searches every agency before buying a clip, and B) That people will still buy your clip whatever the price.

It wouldn't be 'happy days' if your items were only available on high RPD sites. It's just as likely it would mean you'd get a few  sales at these high RPD places (happy days) and you'd lose all of your sales at the reasonable and low RPD places (very unhappy days).

Much wisdom in what you're saying.  I originally had thoughts like that about Videohive for selling 4K so low, but now I'm trying to upload there, hoping they approve me to use the beta uploader.  I was contacted through email by the guys at Motion Array about contributing there.  I responded with a couple basic questions and never heard back.  Maybe I'll look into it more.  I always appreciate your perspective on things.

I think it's rather good for society when criminals confess.  ;D

Your results are quite different from what most people experience....mine are the opposite way round....possibly your material better suits those platforms or maybe in a few months your results will reflect the "norm". I used to think because I was European I did better on Fotolia (now Adobe) now not so much.

indeed, as I started recently, with time, the trend will be confirmed, or not. Maybe it'll be totally the opposite in 6 months ... we'll see!
