I am a member of a belgium model/photographer contact site for years now. A few weeks ago images of that model appeared on the site in a model portfolio offering his modelling for stock for free.... needles to say that account got deleted within hours.

Crazy video. I did not know about this. I have to be honest and say that I am not super happy about it because I do not think this video does justice to Jesper's character. I do not like that I was not contacted prior to the creation of it, because had the creator contacted me, I could have told him that Jesper is, in fact, not the most downloaded man in the world. He's far from, actually. Because of this, the video becomes a strange person's quest to make a youtube hit, for the sole purpose of self promotion, as we clearly see in the end of the video. Having Jesper read out loud a well-scripted statement about where to go if you want quality images, is in my eyes.... Well I probably should not say that here. The fact that Jesper is not the most downloaded male model unfortunately intrudes on the pride of some of my other models, which actually are the most downloaded in the world. We are in the process of filing for a Guinness World Record on behalf of our top female and male model, and when this goes through it will make this video seem a little silly and not very well researched. I also do not like that they got a hold of Jesper's personal contact information without my consent. This means that at least one of our distribution partners has broken our privacy policy, which we now have to spend time following up on.

I always tell the people I shoot that they should not worry AT ALL about their contact information being shared with anyone, so I really hope that the guy didn't get it from an agency... They wouldn't be allowed to share Jesper's contact information, would they? ??? :o

I'm pretty sure it's quite easy to get this guy's contact info without the "help" of an agency.
Since his face IS all over the place I'm sure people in his neighborhood know about his whereabouts.
It would be concerning though if an agency actually did release that information.
On another note. How could anyone claim to be the most "downloaded" person?
Wouldn't that be Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and the likes? I'm sure those VIPs have billions of downloads. Way more than Yuri ever sold (no offense!).

the other day with family (have a big one) we were watching tv and the show was about world records, the "greatest" one was an asian guy that "cracks" around 60 walnuts in a minute with his butt, after that we started discussing how far can world records go and some of us will apply lol

It's Yuri's ASSUMPTION that the only source of addresses for models is his model release file that is interesting, along with his anger over someone making a claim that he disputes and that interferes with his promotional activities. It's very control-freakish, but then I suppose thats how he got where he is.
When he talks about "our distribution partners who have broken our privacy policy" it sounds as if he is talking as an agency that supplies partner agencies - if that is so, why does he supply them with model releases? If he is talking about the micros, then it would be a serious breach of their policies, rather than his, to give out model details since we are not allowed to dictate terms to micros.

Gotta say it was.pretty smart to use a well known ( overused ) stock model to extols the virtues of custom imagery. Obviously with his consent. Sounds like an in house squabble.
Funny, I wouldn't pick him out in the street as the guy in those images.

I tested this.. if you know the face.. it's not hard to find a model and take contact him.. little google and that's all. I found Jespers agent and contact very fast..

LOL! He is pretty well downloaded, but not in the same (numerical) league with some of Yuri's models, Andres' or Sean's, I am sure. He will be flattered that you suggested him though :D
I can understand Yuri's concerns about model privacy. It is one of my concerns too, especially considering all my models are amateur. But in Jesper's case, being a pro model, I guess he is much easier to find. Looks like Jarih had no trouble finding him.
As far as agencies giving out info, a number of times I have been contacted by people, including journalists, looking for contact info, and they were not able to find out from any of the agencies. The most they were able to get was first name and last last initial from one site that published that (Crestock), but NOTHING else. I knew Crestock had publicly viewable model names, so that's why I only used first names and last initials there. If you have model full names stored at Crestock I would change them if you are concerned about privacy. Other than that, I think our model info is safe with the micros.

All you need is for the models to upload a photo with their face on it on facebook on a public profile, twitter, flickr or something with their account name and then they can easily be found. I am also worried about this. A couple of the female models I've taken have been targeted for silly online jokes and comments and guys with nothing else to do online write and brag about how they found out their names and place of birth etc etc ....
Yuri, are you sure you have in your portfolio the most downloaded female? I think my sister can easily compete or overtake Cecile and the other two popular females you have. :) I wouldn't know in your portfolio if it is Cecile, the young blond lady or the brunette that always shows up with Jesper.

I don't think anyone would take the claim that he is the most downloaded man in the world as a serious factual claim, it's just a fun promo for the photographer and and a commentary on stock. We may not all agree with the commentary he is making, but none the less it is presented in a very fun and amusing way.
I'm sorry that it has been reacted to so badly by Yuri. I don't think it would have been hard for the guy to track down that model, especially as he may have tried several of the top micro models and that was the one he managed to get hold of. I also don't think that the creator of the video will be made to look silly or like a poor researcher by the fact that there are better selling models, again because, it was a silly little fun promo video from the outset.

I totally agree. It was a fun video with a great idea behind it. It was obviously done with the models consent. Why Yuri would feel that he "owns" the concept of "the world's most anything" or control over another persons actions says more about him than it does about the video. When i saw the video, the first thing i thought of was the commercials for "the world's most interesting man" for a beer company. Maybe Yuri could do "the world's least sense of humor".

Why would this promotional video keep us from buying an image of this model if it is perfect for a project we have in the works.
In general, I think we all take ourselves way to seriously!
I enjoyed this video exactly because the participants poked fun at themselves. My daughter who is a model found the feigned unease and jabs at self-centered narcissistic ego hilarious.
Maybe the models and photographers value system does not mesh well with today's ambitious norms, however for many of us this promotional reel was a grounded refreshing change to the all too frequent aggrandizing that is omnipresent in self promotion these days.

The world's most downloaded person could be Chinese or a Bollywood star that most westerners wont know. I did a search for Sachin Tendulkar in Google images and there's 23,000,000 results. Can a stock model compete with that? Just blown my own theory, the Bieber gets 479,000,000, a few short of Jesus with 483,000,000. This is a bit addictive, Michael Jackson 664,000,000. Can anyone beat that? Yes, Barack Obama 1,020,000,000.

Well, of course, Cindy Margolis is the "world's most downloaded woman": http://www.cindymargolis.com/ (http://www.cindymargolis.com/) So, I doubt Guiness would give any record for that. And, actually, you couldn't really claim most licensed stock model in the world, because you'd have to have some insane way of tracking what image a certain person is in on 40+ websites, etc., etc...

More seriously, if I'm contacted about a model, I call the model, give him/her the data of the interested people, and it is up to her/him what to do from here.

I probably am but I hadn't heard of her, either. I didn't waste time with the words, but that's probably normal for her target market.
BTW, do you think she achieved that look with Photoshop, or do you think it took surgical enhancement? There's something mildly offputting about silicone valleys.
