Title: Deactivating but not deleting videos - which sites

Hi Everyone,

I'm helping my friend with transition from istock exclusive to non-exclusive and to other agencies.
Thus the question: in which agencies there is a possibility to upload, but not activate immediately after acceptance?
He's signing to:

revostock
pond5
shutterstock
clipcanvas

Also, should I advice him any other agencies for footage?

Hope you get an answer but traditionally Footage submitters are pretty quiet compared to stills people. Google is your friend.

  The question about uploading but not activating is not something that I can answer. I doubt that any of the agencies would want to do that. They wouldn't want to waste time reviewing something they can't sell, I would think. Why would you even need to do this? Either you're exclusive or you aren't.
  Pond5, Shutterstock and Revostock are excellent. Never made a sale at clipcanvas, and don't bother wasting the bandwidth there anymore.
  Don't touch FT with a ten foot pole- they pay very little, the reviewers are incompetent, and they are in one of their periodic cycles of finding new ways to screw the contributors.
  The smaller site- AlwaysHD, etc, are not worth the time.

I think clipcanvas is worth it, if you have a big portfolio.  They don't sell much but you can set higher prices.  Apart from those on your list, the only other site I've sold with and would recommend is Canstockphoto.

There are some higher priced sites but I haven't explored that yet.  Alamy are going to launch video soon and I think they will be good.

You can upload to Revo, Pond5 and ClipCanvas and park the clips in the tagging cue forever. Shutterstock has an difficult backend and it's qets very messy to do it there. They also delete the thumbnail after a relatively short period.

Fotolia and ClipDealer also allow you to upload and park files forever, apparently. Be aware that these sites are relatively low performers for standard video clips. If you have exceptional content you may have another experience at the minor sites.

Thanks! That's the info I needed. Great! I'm exclusive at istock, but my friend (who is not an english speaker) just resigned exclusivity... and there is a month period till it becomes "deactivated".
