I just submitted a few videos to Shutterstock that included models and used a release I thought was good for both video and stills.  I used Yuri's standard release but the the 'media' section of the release said this
Quote
the unrestricted right and permission to copyright and use, re-use, publish, and republish photographic portraits or pictures of me or in which I may be included intact or in part, composite or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or transformations in conjunction with my own or a fictitious name, or reproduction hereof in color or otherwise, made through any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, art, promotion, advertising, trade, or any other purpose whatsoever.

The videos were rejected with the reason 'needs a video release'.

One video WAS accepted, but that one was using a release with a little video section (it was a different release) ... so the moral.  Make sure your release mentions video!

Thanks for the info. What are your first impressions with video. Is it more time consuming to produce?

Yeah it is a bit time consuming.  A pain to shoot, a pain to edit, and a pain to upload and keyword (video doesn't have iptc).  That said, I have gotten some nice sales from Pond5 recently and wanted to try and upload a bit more.  If you are already doing a shoot, it doesn't take THAT much more effort to shoot 5-10 videos.  But still... it is a bit of a pain.

Just curious, what do you edit in footage? I always thought one could only cut and past a footage and that's it. (not the things like in photography where you can change the colours, remove/add objects, crop, change exposure/witblance etc).

I see this topic is a bit old, but how did you solve the situation? Is it enough to add the words "video" and "videographer" to Yuri's release, or is there some other release I should use?

Hmmm, That's odd I just submitted some on single use releases and they worked fine. Although Yuri is king WRT all kinds of things I would use agency releases instead. One release should be able to do the trick. But that said, life for stock photographers never gets easier and it may be a trend.

What is video but numerous 'portraits' or 'images'.  Anyhoo, IS doesn't have such a silly notion.

Thank you for your replies. I will try one clip with my normal release. If that doesn't work, I have rewritten it to include the words video and videographer. Hope I don't have to go trough the hazzle of filling it out and uploading it, when the other one should cover everything anyway.

I took care about that a while ago - my own universal release speaks about photo, video, and other possible future types of media :)
