Title: Videoblocks sales not increasing. It's frustrating there.
Post by: helloitsme on October 31, 2017, 07:04
Basically, it's the same level as 2 years ago while P5 and Shutterstock sales grow like 15% every year as I keep adding new contents.  It's kinda disappointing.

Yet you were so lyrical about them. Maybe you gave new contributors the idea that VB was the place to go and now their content is pushing yours to the back?

Classic mistake.

If you find gold in the mountains, don't tell everyone at the tavern.  ;)

You DO tell everyone....that gold is 200 miles in the opposite direction! ;D  No no, not VB, it's VH 200 miles that way!

Yeah
really frustrating!

Last year i got like 3- 5 sales a month and this year i sold 1 clip + 1 refund.

And at the same time.
Adobe, Shutterstock and Pond5 increasing almost every month.

Feels like my port is invisible.
Could it be that i'm penalized in some way?
Earlier this year i had problems with my connection.
That caused 4000 few second clips.
They all show now on the rejected count....

You can tell people there's gold in the VideoHive mountains as much as you like... for some strange reason they'll never believe you!

I hear you.  Their growth is stagnating somehow now.

What's wrong with sharing good site with fellow contributors so that we can all make more money?  I don't understand some people's reaction.  VB is still better than Dissolve.  If you don't like VB, close your account and go back to Dissolve which doesn't respect contributors much.

Well, nothing wrong with sharing from a human point of view, but from just a competitive point of view, you're not doing yourself any favors.

Any benefit the site as a whole may get from more contributors will be nothing compared to the negative impact of your ever relatively decreasing portfolio. You have no chance of increasing your portfolio at the same pace as the combined competition.

In other words - you're shooting yourself in the foot.  :)

It's the opposite of recommending stocks, or things like cryptocurrencies, because they increase in value with more people.

All the "how to make money selling photos" blogs, YouTube videos, tutorials, books, etc. are the main reason that there are now 160 million images to compete with on Shutterstock.

That's unlikely to rectify the issue, but it's up to you at the end of the day.
