How do you save a file for istock and not have the gradients go all wonky like this:

I don't think you can save down oval gradients. They need to be a circle or linear.

Check the Aspect Ratio on the gradient. It should be 100%.

You can use ovals, I do all the time. Not sure about the aspect ratio suggestion. This issue sometimes happens to me and when it does I redraw the path and fill with a new gradient, which then saves fine. No idea why it happens in the first place. Maybe this link can shed some light. http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=20395

No, no one actually saves a files in this form. Its a bug in Adobe Illustrator which I also face many a times.
You apply a normal radial gradient and after saving the file in eps10 when you again open that file it breaks the gradient in many parts.
Getting these types of gradient is not good as it makes your file lot heavier and un-editable.

I've had this happen as well. You can miss it if you don't reopen the eps10 file.
I try to use blends instead of radial gradients to avoid the problem.

Try using a blend instead... Easy and will achieve the same.
