Topic: Blogger support, any experiences?

Months ago I found a watermarked image in a blog post at Blogger. I informed the author about this, but I checked today and he didn't do anything.

I tried to find a contact address for their admin, I only saw the "flag" option, which however doesn't have a choice for "copyright infraction". I chose "disclosure of personal information" or something like that. As all the explanation is in my comment to the post, I referred to it.

Do you have any experience with Blogger support regarding illegal use of images?

Maybe you need to use some legal terminology about copyright infringement and the court system. Sound like a lawyer and then he might remove it. Wink

Click on their Blogger Content policy, then there is a link to this:

http://www.google.com/blogger_dmca.html

It tells you how to use their form to report infringement. You can fax or mail it to them.

Good. In most cases these days you need to send a DMCA claim to the site owner.

Usually when I see my images stolen (especially with watermark) I don't even bother trying to contact the user. It's a waste of time. I go straight to the site owner or the web hosting company. There will still be room for the user to respond and clarify the situation but mostly the users don't care if the copyright owners contact them.

Once the web host or site owner contacts them threatening to close their account they get nervous and do respond.

Thanks, cclapper, if my first attempt to reach them through the report button doesn't work, I will use the form.

In the present case, I prefered to contact the user first because this watermarked image (from Lucky Oliver) had been in so many places that the person might truly not know the image was copyrighted - the watermark is even a bit faint. In other cases, people removed the image. This person however is insisting in the mistake. Apparently she doesn't even use this blog anymore, as the last post in December she said she would take a break from it. But I suppose she would have received an email saying there was a comment on her blog - or not?

Only if the person entered an email and opted to do so. Comment notification isn't automatic  via email, you have to specify it.
