I can't draw any conclusions, except they do appear to be the same image, and fairly unique.

Background is a PD NASA image, so no issue there.

Another one

IS Exclusive - TommL

Anyone? Wink

This dude is toast.  What guts! Two exclusive accounts on IS and exclusive images on DT?

Good catch! There's no doubt that those are two sets of identical images.

None, I was just being amused searching for IS exclusive placement in searches, not looking for copycats. In fact I feel kind of bad pointing it out.

That and no watermark on the IS image linked from IS?

If IS or DT want to pay me, I'll do this all day.

Bad? No way!

However, TommL is a diamond exclusive with over 89000 DLs. I find it hard to believe he'd risk this.

caracterdesign is a black diamond Admin at IS (with almost 1/4 million DLs), so I think it's pretty obvious what actually has happened here.

Husakarl5 has stolen the images and UL'd them to DT.

If you don't want to contact IS, I gladly will.

Yes, the DT dude is definitely the culprit. I recognize at least one other in that portfolio that doesn't belong to him. There are only 31 files in the portfolio, opened in May... Looks like he just wanted to see what he could get away with and for how long.

Wow! Add istock exclusive urbancow to the mix. Those are off first page downloads for terms like handshake and piggy bank. Not too subtle. I think piracy prevention is the new frontier for stock art.

He also has one by Lise Gagnes. Its the one called togetherness, all the silhouettes in front of a blue map of the world. He is definitely the one in the wrong!

It looks like all the images were uploaded within a fairly short period just after he opened his account.

He's probably still out of pocket, assuming that he originally bought all the images full-size at IS, although of course he might be a designer who gained them on behalf of a client or his employer. Hopefully he is yet to receive his second payout (with 198 sales).

Well spotted Race!

Maybe there is hope for me getting a paying job in Micro?  Wink

Yes, the person is kind of obvious and there are more like this. If someone was smart they would not just troll for most popular images on the first pages of IS best exclusives where they will be spotted in minutes by a blind monkey with a computer. (ah... that's me?)

I only checked DT, they could be on ten other sites for all I know.

good job, race. keep on being amused and find more. you may have cornered a new microstock job title: amateur image detective. also, dt should really ask picscout agency, who they use to protect images from theft and misuse, what happened to their surveillance.

Taking a wild guess I would say that they removed his account once this was reported.

You revived a thread of more than a month old. Better watch the dates.  Wink The DT account was removed (of course).

That one is deleted now as well.

Unfortunately a lot of stock images can be downloaded on line for free through the same channels as illegal music. Therefore, these thieves can download all of the images for free and then any profit they make is for them to keep.
It might be a good idea to use a image recognition software for new members to check for thieves. Let's say, once somebody uploads their first ten images, check them against libraries at the other major sites.

I wonder if iStock has any right to sue Dreamstime in this matter. I am not blaming Dreamstime one bit, but in the end, they licensed the stolen images. Or I wonder if they recall the stolen images and direct the customers to iStock to license them properly.

Hurray for Race!!!

you know, i am not computer savvy to even locate my lost pint of Guinness, lol..
but it is times like these, ( contributors looking out for each other) ,that i truly feel that so long as there are thieves who think they can outsmart some of us,
there is also always one mean kick-ar-e photographer/illustrator like Race, who will outsmart them and find them.

very soon we will see a DC comic character named RAcePhoto
who flies around, um sorry, race around in his super sportscar to rescue
computer ignoramus like me,  Cheesy
to seek and destroy these lowlives who not only have no talent to create their own work, but have the gull to be so proud of stealing other people hard
work.

why costume do you want DC comic to get you to wear, Mr. RacePhoto?

you got my vote for Superhero for this month  Wink

p.s.
that being said, you found them only because they were best sellers that you recognized. imagine how many other not so recognizable pilfered images out there not identified and still being sold as the thief's.

maybe some super genius can invent a tag similar to a GPS location tag for our images so we can embed them to our images before submitting them to stock sites.

maybe this is for some of those super whippersnapping cyberpunks who pride themselves of how much of a cybersleuth they are in  phishing .....
they could put their brains to something more useful like this ?
