I've been playing the SIMs on Facebook - you remember it from the 90s? I was so addicted - and now my girls play it too and it's a bit of fun for us. There are a bunch of quests to complete to move up and the one I'm currently in has instructed me to "steal images off the web for my blog". Ha! At least in a way they are acknowledging the concept that stealing images is theft, rather than "take/borrow images"... (please note it's just a game, no one is actually stealing real images in this game)

Sorry didn't realize this was a forum for maiming, murder and car theft games, but those aren't any better, are they?  ;)

Obviously, it would have been better if they'd said, "Go and find a CC image", (as a child doesn't have a credit card, there would be no point in telling them to 'go and buy a legally licensed image') but I guess that's not as much fun as 'stealing'.
But WDIK?

You win. You're right. I'm an idiot.  ::)

I just wonder what it is I did to you to make you want to make fun of everything I post?

I'm pretty cool with that! Like you say, it clearly identifies it as stealing! As long as it is used where they could have have used, say, shoplifting and it isn't made out to be okay it could help educate people that it is theft we are talking about.

I didn't realise that I did. Sorry if it's so. It definitely ISN'T personal. I don't keep tabs on who posts what, except for a few habitual eejits I have on ignore.
It was just that when some computer games seem to feature (in simulation) many illegal and anti-social activities, this one didn't seem quite as bad as some.
But I don't know the game, so who knows? If this is the only illegal activity encouraged in that particular game, there might be a backstory for the game authors.
(It could be argued that using the word 'steal' rather than 'get' gives the message that this is actually an illegal activity.)
