Title: Site stealing your images
Post by: alex123rf on April 13, 2011, 22:45
Hi All,

Please look here:

http://www.freeimageworks.com/soccer-player-on-the-street/- (http://www.freeimageworks.com/soccer-player-on-the-street/-)
http://www.freeimageworks.com/a-soccer-player-on-the-street/- (http://www.freeimageworks.com/a-soccer-player-on-the-street/-)
http://www.freeimageworks.com/soccer-player/- (http://www.freeimageworks.com/soccer-player/-)

Images clearly belong to bowie15 : http://www.123rf.com/profile_bowie15 (http://www.123rf.com/profile_bowie15)

Was your portfolio compromised as well? They have a "takedown" procedure: http://www.freeimageworks.com/dmca (http://www.freeimageworks.com/dmca)

But they're selling unlimited downloads too! http://www.freeimageworks.com/signup (http://www.freeimageworks.com/signup)

If this isn't illegal, i don't know what is. I think you should check if your images are on that site and get them to remove it.

Best regards,

Alex

They won't be held responsible, but they sure do want to be paid!

Thanks for the information Alex - much appreciated. But how can I check if any of mine are there? I tried entering keywords for some areas of my port but couldn't find anything to click on to activate the search. Do you have to sign up with them before you can search or am I missing something. Kind regards, David.

As soon as I went to that site my computer started downloading something. I don't know what but the only way to stop it was to quit Firefox. I don't think I'll be going back.

Anyone know how they got the images?

I noticed some are free and others require a fee of $4.95. Here's a couple freebies.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's mainly a phishing site - I clicked on a Paypal logo and Noscript blocked a cross-site script.
Be very wary anyone visiting!

I've reported it to Paypal anyway, if there's any naughty business, they should be able to deal with it.

Their "collection" is very limited.  They had a couple of my images.  I sent a DMCA notice.  I am going to be really pissed if this is a phishing site and they now have my contact info  >:(

I found some of my images free to download on http://www.freeimageworks.com (http://www.freeimageworks.com) via Google images. Some of my images they even charge for. I wrote them to take them down, before I saw this thread - so far no response. Is there any point in reporting them to paypal for running a fraudulant business? What other other things can be done? This is much more critical than finding images in torrents. They charge for stolen property and misleads the buyer to believe he is not doing anything illigal.
