Title: PocketWizard Plus III announced
Post by: leaf on February 20, 2012, 12:10
Not sure how many people are using PocketWizards here, but the the Plus III units (http://www.togtech.com/pocketwizard-plus-iii/) have just been announced and they really look great.  I was never a big fan of the TT5 units.  They seemed to have a lot of features that just made them complicated and not working very well.  The Plus III's seem to run with the good 'ol Plus II style and simplicity while adding a bucket of features.

Here's a vid from Fstoppers which seems to be the best overview so far

I just noticed B&H is taking pre-orders at $139.  The Plus II's are still selling at $169....it had me scratching my head but the Strobist confirms selling price is $30 less for full retail.  That's a good thing!

These do look pretty great.  I had bought and since broken a cable to fire a camera remotely for my PWii's that was very handy.  Now I can focus with them too?  Very cool.

I have to say, I enjoyed watching the lighting setups in action from these guys as much as I learned about the new toys available.

Great video, thanks for sharing it!

speaking of cables - I've been buying mine on ebay (third party cables).  much much cheaper and they seem to work decent.
