Title: Spring Cleaning
Post by: PeterChigmaroff on May 15, 2009, 11:16
I just requested termination of my account. I must say it feels good. Should have done it after the last commission decrease.

Please don't understand this as provocation.

Not much loss either for you either for FT... Seems their main buyers don't like much your images.

What I saw you are more likely to sell to north American buyers than that what FT has as majority of German and EU Citizens buyers... I understand your reasons and they are as simple: The more sales you had on BigStock than on FT...

BTW, VERY NICE PORTFOLIO!

good point Milinz, also for the other answer on travel images at the other thread.
my case is the opposite as Zeus, i sell better to German and EU, which is why i like Fotolia and Veer
. I certainly will look into the other sites you pointed out. Not zymmetrical or featurepics, but Photographersdirect.com.
I am already with Alamy, but since my travel photos were done with 6Mp camera at that time, it doesn't quite look good enough , in my opinion, for upsizing to 49MB.  but next trip with my 14.6MP k20d for sure I will give them to Alamy.

No provocation taken. I doubt Fotolio will miss me one bit. In general I perform very poorly in the micro world.

I think you just didn't found your real 'gold mine'... That is only problem... Buyers are different on any agency...

I don't know why not Zymm and Featurepics... They give 70% of price which you set there!
It is in your own discretion to do it or not - but, logic says that they can make some money ;-)

Photographersdirect will accept you only in case you give up from microstock in full! I've tried to enter there but they asked that I delete all my images at all micro sites... I couldn't do that due I am producing both - micro and traditional stock photos! Lately I am on micro side bit more and doing 'gun for hire' jobs with models... But, in time I will flood many agencies with traditional stock images ;-)

This is surprising.  You have a very stock oriented portfolio IMO.  Maybe given more time...?

I support your spring cleaning though.  If an agency isn't performing and you have given it every chance then it seems reasonable to pull the plug.

1700 images :o   And you delete everything. Thatīs like a punch in the face for me.  Iīve been struggeling a year to get 250 images approved.   How long have you been there?

It's supposed to be a poke in the eye for FT but like I said, I doubt anyone will notice. I believe they are go-no-where agency. I have to feel at minimum like there is some chance of success but they have shown me this will never happen. It's a drunkards walk with them. Get close and the rules change and you are forced to walk backwards and sideways again. My first upload was on April 25/08 so just over a year.
