Its that time of the month for finding and opening my spreadsheets.

Well it was neck and neck between iStock and FT for most of the month for second place until FT surged ahead with an extended licence sale yesterday so DT were pushed into 4th.
Best months ever at SS, FT, IS, DT, FP, 123 and far better than December 57% higher overall.

SS 42.2%
FT 14.0%
iS 12.4%
DT 10.6%
123 7% *
StockXpert 5.2%
BigStock 3.9% #
FP 3.6% ~

CanStockPhoto 1% @
SPM 0.1% &

* They have not worked out their subscription sale price for this month so that will increase.

# guessimate as their website will only show my current balance can't navigate at all.

~ I notice once you receive a payout all details of images previously downloaded are forgotten a pity.

@ Their stats graph reports a higher number of downloads and earnings than the breakdown of my balance - rather odd. have essentially stopped uploading.

& I have been on and off one of their top four contributors for the last month so I get a direct link on their frontpage, I don't get the greatest thumbnails but despite dropping their prices they still are getting few visitors because with a portfolio of over 2,300 photos virtually no sales.

Jan '07 statistics:
SS 32% (-52% of sales respect to Dec '06  :-[)
IS 22% (+234% :o)
StockXpert 14% (+53%)
DT 12% (-43%)
FT 7% (-42%)
123rf(+379%!)
BigStock(+20%)
Others 2%

I'm working on a statistic parameter: it sounds like this "sales per images per sum of days of exposure"... maybe a measure of how much a site sell? what do you think?

18% shutterstock
21% fotolia
25% istockphoto
16% dreamtime
 6% bigstockphoto
 9% 123RF
 1% Canstock
 3% StockXpert
 1% Featurepics
 1% LuckyOliver
 0% Galastock

3rd best month ever which isn't to bad since i haven't uploaded in the past 3 months.

For the first time ever, SS in no longer in the top 2.  This also means I have to start uploading to istock , against my will, since they are selling a lot more for me with less photos.

123rf is very consistant and is now definately in front of StockXpert which has started to slow down a lot for me.  I have given up on GS and CS but am still hanging in there with LO.

Disappointing month for everyones favourite under - FP - aswell.

Hey Fintastique ... you can check your monthly earnings on BigStock (Bigstock?)

When you have logged in click on 'Commissions' (Second down at the very right hand side, underneath the 'Download cart' and 'Photo Credits').

Once you are on that page, look at the very bottom, left. There is a month by month breakdown of your earnings.

Cheers

I noticed this too.  Very annoying.

Here are mine:
SS 39%
FT 10%
IS 29%
DT 8%
123 1%
StockXpert 9%
BigStock 3%
FP 0%
LO 1%
IS is taking off for me, 4x december, SS about the same.
123 does almost nothing, fp nothing at all.

It's been a while since we did this.
Here is mine.

25 %10 %6 %25 %   9 %6 %   11 %8 %

Not sure what happened to dreamstime for me, but they are really pulling strong compared to the rest

Best month for me since I started in July, even though I didn't do much uploading.

40% IStockphoto (BME)
24% Shutterstock
12% Dreamstime
10% Fotolia (BME)
7% Stockxpert
2% BigStockPhoto
0.6% FeaturePics (haven't uploaded in a while)
0.4% Lucky Oliver
0.3% CanStockPhoto (haven't uploaded in a while)

123RFree is going to be about 1% after they figure the subscription price
Sold nothing on CreStock, which isn't surprising given the fact I haven't uploaded in a while and only have 63 images up.

I've also seen a huge growth in my IS performance.  Apparently some folks over there know what they're doing even though they might not have the friendliest attitudes in the business.

I have seen nothing but decreases in sales at istock the last months.  Now i know where the sales are going ;)

Maybe it is because i haven't disambiguated........ although I am starting to now.

Rumour has it that their search favours manually disambiguated photos so this might be why.  People like me with small portfolios (who have disambiguated) are probably taking sales from those with big portfolios who dont have the time to disambiguate.

Yes, I agree that disambiguation is important for new users, because it gives visibility to those images that don't have flames or an high download counter.

I'm a new user at istock - does this mean I should start manually disambugating (argh -sp!!) there? I have a teeny tiny portfolio, so it shouldn't be a problem.

when viewing your portfolio stats if it says manual for all your images under DA then you are fine, if it says auto, then yes, you should disambiguate your images.  It doesn't matter how large your portfolio is, DA'ing your images or not has the same advantage/disadvantage

Very good month for me in Jan. only 3% less than my best month overall, and 40% more than Dec.

SS, IS and DT count 78% of all sales, and all three of them are neck to neck, thanks to a couple of EL at SS, 1 at DT.
FT had a pretty slow month, come in only at 9%
BigStock had a good month8%, double that of StockXpert 5%

The bottom line for DA at iStock is if your subject has more than two words and you haven't DA there is a chance it won't be found in the intended search at all especially if one of the words is common and has multiple meanings

examples I can remember

St Andrews

Celtic Cross

so worth at least scanning down your files or checking last download of previously popular files.

I do know how to get the BigStock breakdown just their site was incredibly sluggish this morning I could see the first page but couldn't navigate at all around the site, though FT get my vote for most well hidden stats.

Did anyone notice any discepancies at CanStockPhoto between recorded DLs and their stats.

I had an awesome month at IS, both in number of dlds and in earnings (respectively 30% and 80% more than december, which was my best month there) and - best of all - a huge increase in $/dld (from 39c to 52c).  DT is losing one position each month, sadly, although earnigs were nearly the same as of last month.

IS: 33%
FT: 18%
StockXpert: 15%
DT: 13%
BigStock: 7%
FP: 5%
CanStockPhoto: 4%
123: 4%
LO: 1%

Regards,
Adelaide

I'm guessing you meant  "January Earnings"......
My best month ever!!  I'm thrilled with some sites and.... well,  kind of disappointed with others as you can imagine by these numbers. My sales do not seem as balanced as the rest of yours.

SS      84%
DT        5%
BigStock       5%
StockXpert      4%
FT        1.2%
123       .4%
LO         .4%
FP       0%
USPS   0%

..FP  In all fairness,  wasn't on FP all month and as I've read here, I don't expect any high and constant sales there.
..USPS,  what else could be expected?
..123, I've a very limited portfolio there.

DT & BS... slow but steady.

FT  I pulled out about mid-month, personal reasons.

LO... well.....   my 'folio on LO is almost the exact duplicate to-the-picture of that on SS  who ran 84% of my sales.  I sold more on SS this month than all the other 8 combined in the last 3 months.  I keep hoping that something will soon break out at LO.

and... StockXpert...  well,  their loss, they've rejected about 60% of what SS has taken and is selling like hotcakes....  funny too, as most of my rejects from StockXpert were  "not commercial material".   why do I find that humorous? :D

Fantastic month for me as well. Top results on all sites and my first EL at DT. Have to say that I uploaded a lot in Dec and Jan. Guess thats the return  ;)

Also StockXpert is a positive surprise. Was there only half the month and uploaded about 30% of my photos so far.

SS   42%
DT   23%
IS   13%
FL   7%
BS   10%
StockXpert   5%
