A friend got me this news this morning. Very very sad.  I knew Stephen a little bit and we would email back and forth on many topics. We had chance to go flying  and doing aerial photography together once.

Stephen Strathdee passed away suddenly on Friday December 14 while skiing in Whistler's Harmony Bowl.

I added this shot of Stephen and I back in 2009. Him at the controls of trusty FHTI 1966 C-172.

OMG.  We became long distance friends early in our microstock careers over at another forum.  I'm really gonna miss him.  RIP dear Stephen.  :'-(

RIP Stephen. That sucks. He was one of the first people who gave me good advice when I first got started in stock. I never had a chance to return his kindness.

but I can tell you that reaching sharply ain't easy... :P (I am not talking about the niche but the HIGH quality photos he can deliver..)

I believe I have never talked with Stephen apart from small notes here in MSG forum, I can say that I have always admired his work, one of the best! for sure he was a great man outside photography too, sad to hear this. Condolences to his family and friends!

I was really shocked when I read this sad news.  I've missed his posts here, he hasn't posted much since going exclusive.  I had a good look at his portfolio this week, always thought his work was great.  My condolences to his family.

I loved that dude, oh so sad.  Sharply was kind and witty and was a bit of a mentor to a lot of us back in the early days.  I really admired him.  Did you know he was a twin, that's why his avatar was only half of Stephen.  I would love to send my condolences to his brother and his son.

Oh, this is so sad!  He was a great guy and I very much enjoyed his postings and what personal correspondence we did have occasionally.  My condolences to his family and close friends.

Thanks for posting this Zeus.

Sad news indeed.  He always had a great collection of aviation themed images, that I admired greatly.

I am so sorry to hear this.  I remember him from my early days here and always enjoyed reading his posts.  He looked and seemed a very strong and free spirit.  So sorry for all who knew him well and were close to him.  RIP.

Sorry to read this terrible news. Sharps' was a good bloke and a highly-valued member of this community. Although admittedly he and I didn't always see eye-to-eye on some issues in the past, I very much respected the way he articulated his opinions and was disappointed when he chose exclusivity and consequently rarely posted here. His legacy to photography will undoubtedly be his superb portfolio. Terrible shame.

I've also missed reading his posts. It must have been a couple of years since he was posting regularly on msg. RIP Stephen, you will be missed by many!
