top 5 video sites

I am currently exclusive with IS in both photo and video. photo is working very well for me. video was doing OK but has recently tanked big time. I am seriously considering dropping my exclusivity as video contributor and looking into other sites.

For those of you who contribute video, which sites would you consider to be the Top Tier - Big 5 in terms of decency of prices sold, royalties paid, and general revenue?

I am not a video pro but for me SS and pond5 are by far the most consistent sites. After that  fotolia, and once every few months istock. I have stopped uploading to other sites.

SS and P5 for me,  Revostock and Clipcanvas went down stopped uploading there at the moment

Pond5 and Shutterstock are far in front of all the rest.

Then if you to upload to some others for the occasional sale while giving contributors a fair deal, Clipcanvas and Revostock.

Agreed, ShutterStock and Pond5, with ClipCanvas, are the only ones doing anything much for me, though my video portfolio is very small and very simple.

You should also consider that those sites accept editorial (unreleased) video clips too, where iStock doesn't.  An extra bonus.

Pond5 is by far my best selling video site.  SS has some good months but still lags behind SS.  I get an occasional sale with Revostock but my portfolio isn't very commercial.  Had a few sales with Clipcanvas and Canstockphoto.

I just dropped my exclusive status for video at iStock. So for me it will be SS, Pond5, iStock, Fotoila, Getty and maybe a few others over time. When iStock is this slow it is good to have content spread out to absorb the slow times

Thanks, It makes sense at this point with my iStock earnings so low. I can always go back if I need to, I am looking forward to the new future ahead!

good luck with the transition, that must have been one bitter pill to swallow. i am a small bit player in the video realm, and given it a few years, the first 18 months were very promising and i was totally upbeat, the last 6 months not one single download - it literally just stopped like there was a cliff of sorts. not sure how one goes from 6-10 downloads a month to 0 downloads, but it happened on my video sales. thank goodness my photos still rock, but with a little less roll these days, but not enough to freak just yet. fortunately photos are my mainstay and video is more of an add on so the pain is not as tough as i can imagine your decision was. good luck man!!!

Thanks, Hey nothing ventured nothing gained! I feel this is the right move now and if not I will go back to being exclusive! I was in line to drop an RC level at this rate so I am not willing to take a pay cut on top of lower sales! I will let you know how it all goes :-)

Fotolia rates are horrid for subs not so bad if you are opted out of subs, still on the fence about that one.

Fotolia pays 30% and you can opt out of subs if you want to. But they don�t sell anywhere near as much as SS or pond5. About the same volume as istock, which dropped a lot even before I went indie for videos.
