Hi guys,

I made time lapse photos and since all the photos are more than 4k pixels on longer edge so I make it into 4k video.

but what is the right resolution for 4k video? do i need to set it to 4096 x 2160? what is the ratio?

I used quicktime which has option to convert to 1080HD but not 4k.

My camera does 3840 x 2160 and according to wikipedia, that's the ultra high definition television (UHDTV) standard.  They say the 4K industry standard is 4096 x 2160. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution

I see both these sizes selling on Pond5 but I would probably do 4096 x 2160, as that can be cropped or scaled to 3840 x 2160 if required.

I upload my 4k time lapse videos at 4096 x 2304 as it gives more options for resolution, cropping and resizing for the buyer. It is keeping the 16:9 ratio for downsizing easily to UHD, or can be easily cropped to any other ratio including 4096x2160.
