Goal: Reducing time spent for submitting videos on several agencies

For photos/ illustrations I usually add keywords to metadata.

For videos I tried to do the same but there are sites (like P5, VB, FO) that reads metadata other (like SS, DT) not.

If the answer is CSV file.....please tell me how to edit it from scratch

Thanks

I'd suggest you to use Stocksubmitter program or some software like that. Great time savers.

This is probably the best overall program out there. https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Media-Pro/Highlights.aspx

Peter,
I think your software can only add metadata, am I right?

helloitsme,
probably you are too busy because your method is wrong ;-)

I usually upload first on P5, make the keywording online, and then download the CSV automatically generetad by P5.
Then with minor editing it can be used for submission on other sites.

I'm not sure, but maybe if you embed Metadata in your files, and Pond5 reads them, You should be able to download a CSV containing those metadata.

Good point, Alex. Can you kindly tell me what agencies accept csv file from P5 ???

The thing is that certain sites work best if you keyword in a certain way, the order of keywords + synonyms, plurals, etc.

Keywording is arguably more important than the quality of the clip if you actually want to sell something so I want full manual control. And it's not the same on all sites.

Time consuming? Heck yes. But I want to maximize exposure for my clips.

My experience with footage is limited to a few sites:

Videoblocks: accepts P5 CSV as it is
Shutterstock: you have to add some columns (Editorial, Categories,... I usually do it editing the csv in Excel); it's better to download a sample CSV from SS, see how it should look like and apply the necessary changes

Fotolia does not accept CSVs, as far as I know. I usually open side by side Fotolia and the CSV and then copy/paste keywords and description.

I upload to P5, do all my keywording on P5 then like above I download the created CSV file for other sites. editing the CSV is super easy. So I only have to keyword once.

Tell me if I am right. You download P5 csv file....then add columns expected from other agencies and then upload it on other agency

I'm using Lightroom to keyword and add meta data to my videos. There's a Lightroom plugin called LR/Transporter that then lets you export your Lightroom meta data as a CSV file. In the plugin you can customize what data goes into the CSV and create presets for the different sites that you upload to. I can export properly formatted CSV files for 5 sites in less than a minute.

After keywording in P5 I then dl the csv I then add or delete as per any other agency. For SS just change the colum to "Filename" On P5 it is "originalfilename" then I deleted all colums except for title and keywords and you are done. Other agencies are different but same process. CSV file is ready as soon as you are done keywording clips do not have to be inspected in order to get csv file.

We are using our own Software to fill in the metadata (english and german) and upload to a specific date to our Server for distribution.
The Software is not ready so far, but it has already some functions like drag and drop for keyword order, word counting, letter counting, multiuser upload,....

Hopefully we can bring a release version to some beta testers in a couple of months.

I guess that doing so with Shutterstock you still have to fill in "Categories" online, don't you?

yes you still have to add those and I add releases on site as well. It is quite easy to do and going the csv route has saved me hours of work!
