any rumors on the price???        8)=tom
I haven't heard anything about the price but I expect it to be between  USD 2500-3000 in US but if it goes higher than that I wouldn't buy one

That's what the  'old'  5D (body) is going for right now....  ... humm.....  If that turns out to be the case....   I'll have one of the first ones, for sure!  8)=tom

more or less yes true but my price predictions  based on price of Nikon d300 ( I take it as to be in the same class with new 5d or replacement of d300 will be) considering the price of d300 in US already  USD1800 and upper model canon DSLR 1D mark iii being 4100 (despite not being full frame we know that camera falls into different category than existing and in my opinion new coming 5d(whatever it 'll be called) should be priced in between those .and even nikon d3 is about usd 5000 now so I don't thing they will tag the new 5d higher than USD 3000 (or let's hope they won't:)

now it's getting exciting. I am glad  they kept the name and didn't change it for 6d or 7d any how I like the name of 5d and 5d mark II as well. ;D

now let's hope it won't be too pricey and comes out soon fingers crossed!

just thought i would post a little update

September 18th is getting widely quoted as the next 'release date' for the follow up to the 5D

August 31st:
The 5D replacement and new Sony FF are in the hands of reviewers, but no D3'x' [DPR] also a Sept 17th meeting for Canon UK dealers.

Also there is again the prospect of two FF Canon bodies a la 3D/6D and another mention of the 'end' of the '1D' line.

I think more or less we know what to expect from the new camera (which hopefully be around pretty soon) now I am more interested in the price tag, hopefully it will be withing an affordable range and not too expensive but I am counting on the heated competition started by Nikon:)

video capabilities... or not
one camera, or two (a 7D and a 3D?)

What makes you so sure that there will be a successor ???
I personally don't believe it anymore :'(

Well the fact that, at least as of this afternoon, if you type Canon EOS 7D into google you got a sponsored link for B&H with option to buy.  You don't get the same if you type in 3D BTW.  Oh and there's the beginnings of a rumor going around that the successor to the mIII with be a MF DSLR.

Canon Australia told the press they have 0 stocks of 5D, and will not confirm if they are to get another shipment.

I also have been told that Canon USA have no more 5Ds on the way, and all future stocks in America will be grey market.

New 50D--15.3 mp. Maybe an upgrade to the 5d will come soon too. It has actually been around for a long time compared to the 30d or 40d. It seems to take longer to shop for a camera than for them to produce new ones now a days.

That Canon was introduced last spring as an entry-level SLR ( below the 400/450D).

See here:http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/19829/canon-1000d-review/

I guess we have to wait a littlebit more...  ;)

Claude

EDITED:  I did not see the mention Canon 7D at first look!  So yes, we have a name !!!

but is there still reason to believe that there will be 2 cameras?

I'm being told again about 2 full frame cameras coming. Canon's current pricing would suggest there is some validity. The source that specced the cameras for me a couple months ago still stands by his words.
