What is the best way to leave Dreamstime?

Should one disable as many images as one can in reverse chronological order?

Does disable mean delete?

Any other tips or hints or observations?

Really?!  I am surprised. 

Kind of a bummer to burn bridges that way though.  If you don't like exclusivity elsewhere you will probably never get to upload to DT again.

Oh wake up. It's only valueless if you actually cant tell that I was joking. If you had simply chuckled at the part that was so blatantly a joke, you would have noticed the other part which had value, especially as Im the only one who actually answered your question.

wise of you to realise when to take responses seriously .
it is afterall as lisafx said your future with DT, not the other person(s).
i have to agree with lisa,  unless you're aiming to go exclusive
elsewhere, why not just leave the images with DT.
over time, who knows, they could sell.
we never know what buyers take, do we?

You cannot remove images until after 6 months from their upload date. Once 6 months passes you can disable them but DT keeps them in a disabled state for a period of time until they decide it's okay to delete them.

You may want to wait until you hit payout before disabling all of the files because I don;t think they pay out for anything under $100. I could be mistaken with this though.

So, if I am reading this correctly, you can disable 30 percent of your portfolio starting with the latest uploads and working back.  Now your most recent file should be a ways back, maybe months, depending on your upload rates.  You now have to wait however long it takes to make that upload 6 months old.  Now 70% of your original portfolio and 100% of your non-disabled portfolio is more than 6 months old.

I have never heard of anyone doing this and maybe I am reading the wording wrong or over thinking it.

Not correct.  You can disable 30% of those files uploaded in the last six months NOT 30% of your portfolio.

You can delete 100% of any files that have been live for six months or more.

It looks like this does shave some time off of the six months. I just deleted 30% of my newest files and now it says I can start deleting again on 10/17 ..where before deletion, six months would have been up on 12/01. So, looks like I was able to shave a month and a half off the waiting period.

If you are leaving Dreamstime:

A. Stop uploading there immediately but don't deactivate any of the files - because you will have to wait 6 months to deactivate your most recent image. There is no way around that. Therefore - since you have to stay - you might as well leave as much of your portfolio online as possible where it will continue to earn.

B. Wait until the end to cash out. That way you won't leave them with the small change.

C. If you get left with any un cashed income you can trade it for credits. Spend them giving someone else a boost. Make someone's day

D. Leave quietly without telling them what a bunch of ********* ******* ***** they are. You might want to go back there one day so you might was well keep it nice. Resist the urge to go ape in their forums.

As far as I know, disable is the only option.

For example: Lets say you have 100 files online that you uploaded 6 months ago. since then you uploaded 3 files. 2 files five months ago and 1 file yesterday. By disabling the one file you uploaded yesterday you can leave in 1 month, not 6 months. I believe this is how the system works?? correct me if I am wrong?

And I don't have a problem with DT per se.

I am in the same boat, but I have less than a month to wait now and I can pull ALL my images off of DT.
Only hope that I can get $5 more in downloads before then, because then I will make a payout before I shut 'er down

I just hate the idea of giving away images, which in effect is what we are doing when we close an account before hitting a payout threshold.

The only other thing I'd add to this is that since disabling images at DT is a ridiculously cumbersome task (no checkboxes in a list like at StockXpert; two screens to click on and a requirement to type in a reason - I was pasting "I want to" into the box), you might want to sort your portfolio in reverse downloads order and for anything old with only a few downloads, get rid of it now to speed the process once you hit payout or the magic date.

The only other wrinkle - a reverse of what one typically hopes - is that an EL sale means a 7 day wait for payment. However if you got one of those in the last days of waiting for your 6 month lock to expire you could still delete the images and then just wait to request payment until the week was up.

At most sites, getting $5 in a day (versus a month) should be a no brainer, but Murphy's law goes to work when you want out
