I have been at it part-time since Oct 2005.  2006 I made $3,000.00, 2007 $10,000 and 2008 I made $15,000.  $28,000 so far. It paid for some nice equipment, a trip in Europe with a rented high-end BMW ( I am from Ottawa Canada) and  still have some more.

I am a night/day shift security guard supervisor at my full time job...yack!!!  I hope, one day to make enough with the photos to get out of that boring job. Denis

I am exclusive at iStock and for the second half of 2008 I have earned high three-digit and low four-digit royalties per month.

Much more than I aimed for when I started at iStock two years ago and by far more than I've earned in the years before in the mid-price image market.

You think my returns are high? Maybe you misread my figures, compared to many (most?) micro shooters mine are pretty low. Basically I earn $1000 per month from 1000 images (give or take a few hundred images depending on the micro agency, and give or take a few hundred dollars depending on the month / time of year) from six micro sites. You are the guy I admire, I want to start shooting lifestyle and I am really inspired by your work. I would have started investing more into my shoots and started lifestyle this year except I injured my back mountain biking and now I can hardly lift my bag of camera equipment let alone an entire set of strobes and battery packs. I'm in the process of getting second and third opinions regarding surgery so I'm out of commission for probably another year. Thank god I have a little money coming in to pay the health insurance premiums. Anyway I digress, my figures are ok considering how little I spent however, Lifestyle images is where the real money is and as soon as I'm whole again, thats what I'm aiming to do.

pixelbrat, nice portfolio. Got a question, how do you get the figurine photos through istock's inspectors? They reject mine based on copyright issues. I stopped uploading those images to IS years ago because they rejected everyone.

Personally I wouldn't beleive a word of sales numbers from people that won't show their portfolios. There are lots of people with nothing to do but spread inaccuracies to make them look and feel better. I think if you are going to tell us the 10's of 100's of thousands you made this year in Micro you should post your links or your info is MOOT!

Best AVAVA

In the past two and a half months I have made somewhere very close to 10,000 dollars in Micro. You can check my portfolio on all the sites under AVAVA. In comparison in the past 2 and a half months in Macro RF that you are all sure is a dying beast I have made over 175,000 dollars in returns. As Monty Python would say " Im not quite dead yet, sir "
