I think it matters. Imagine two sensors, one with 5000 pixels on the horizontal and one with 10 000 pixels on the horizontal side. Let's say the senzor size is 23.6mm on the horizontal (same like Nikon D90). Now if your hand moves for 1mm in the horizontal direction while the shutter is oppened you're gonna have (lets just say we take a picture of a black line on a white paper):
1. 5000 pixels/23,6mm = 212 blurred pixels on the first picture
2. 10000 pixels/23,6mm = 424 blurred pixels on the second picture

At least I think so :D

according to this writer , what CofkcoCof said is correct.
somewhere around the first third of the page he mentioned that "if you have shaky hands" a higher MP setting can actually be worse than choosing a lower MP setting.

Just for a reference: here is Yuri's new setup.

The Yuri Arcurs SteadyPod

Custom Brackets, along with Yuri, have designed an exciting new studio and on location camera setup. This system allows the camera to rotate from horizontal to vertical and to tilt forwards and backwards when attached to a monopod or tripod.  For the Tilt Head, we have introduced an industry first, separate lock and drag knobs for the most precise control possible. It also includes the very popular Manfrotto 685B NeoTec Monopod.

You can find more information about the SteadyPod and what it includes at: newbielink:http://www.steady-pod.com [nonactive]

The 'Yuri Arcurs Steady Pod' costs $629!

Does it come with the camera and lens shown too or a 'Yuri' to operate it for you?

I always shoot hand-held in the studio even with telephoto lens on my D3X. I don't think I ever had an unsharp image - I can shoot up to 1/250s with the lights, it's more than enough. Maybe Yuri needs to cut back on his coffee:)
On location, different story. Nice fast-adjusting monopod would be useful... I still get away with using a tripod when I need to.

Unfortunately not, but you can choose the pieces you would want to purchase. That could save you some money but not getting the camera quick release and bottom plate. Also, if you already have a monopod, you could opt to not purchase the Manfrotto 685B as this SteadyPod works on all monopods and tripods.

 Hi All,

One more element when trying to over ride the ambient light with your shutter speed and still using strobes is to use a neutral density filter in front of your lens. It will over ride the sun and you can drop your shutter speed and just crank up your strobes to offset the neutral density. When shooting motion we use neutral density all the time.

Best,
Jonathan
