Hi everyone,

I am going to test whether it is possible to make some money by selling more-or-less artistic nudes and I have made some pre-analysis of the legal documents by the Big 6. If you want to know which sites are accepting nudes and what kind of nudes, go to the link below. I have also took a look on the rules under which can the images be used by buyers.

All relevant excerpts from the licenses, FAQs, guidelines etc. are included.

I have also uploaded and got accepted first batch to confirm my findings, so it should be correct, but I would be happy to hear any corrections, comments and/or you experiences with nude photos on microstock (I still don't know whether it will sell at all).

You can point at the license all you want, but I would expect and plan for any nude image to be used inappropriately, and have the model be ok with that.  ie., don't be suprised when sexy nude images appear in ads for escort services or on porn dvds.  I had one show up on a dvd cover.  I had purposefully shot the series not showing the model's face, because I knew they would basically be uncontrollable.  It's not like you're dealing with the best of society in these cases.

Stick them somewhere as RM, and you'll have better luck.  I don't know how all those Russian guys with portfolios of naked women do it.  I guess the girls don't care.

That's a very good point, thank you Sean. I will try to keep that in mind and shoot as many headless or otherwise anonymous shots as possible.

I backup this, it's better to stick to anonymous shots. I was planning to go with RM with full body shots, including the face, just haven't got the time so far. Maybe someone who's selling RM can tell us if its worthy.
On microstock partial nudes or headless are selling alright. Not exceptional, though.

From a woman's point of view (though I would never pose naked!), I don't think it suffices to have he head cut from the images.  One woman posing for "artistic" nudes (truly artistic) may not like these photos used in porn AT ALL, even if her face is unseen.

Of course, I don't like these photos to be used on porn site at all too. Though the question is: It is even possible to protect such images without hiding them in the basement for the rest of our lives?

As a side note: Porn site wouldn't probably want truly artistic nudes :)

You can have some control - though not absolute control - under RM licensing, preferably negociated by yourself.

all good points , sjlocke.
considering the images of fully clothed women being used on dating sites,etc... i would be surprised if the nudes shots are not misused to the same extent, if not worse.
re. your last comment. well, maybe "those russian girls" don't know how their shots are being used.
(a heart point for you Sean).
