Someone smarter than me can tease out the import of this, and the likely impact, if any.
If it's bad news, don't shoot the messenger.  8)

Not sure I care enough to invest a pound to read the article, no that's a lie, I don't care.

Huh? I read it for free!
Though clicking on my own link gives me a 'subscribe to read' message.  ::) Weird!

As they're rolling over all their debt ($2.35 billion) how does this help? It's the cost of servicing that debt (which all went to pay the two parasitic private equity firms) that makes doing anything significant hard, and that not's changing.

I also figure it means they didn't think much of Dawn Airey

Getty went from an absolute powerhouse just a few years ago to falling asleep at the wheel and being overtaken and left in the dust by the likes of SS in particular. Even Alamy has managed to gain strength in this ever changing business. Getty were too busy sending out BS extortion letters trying to intimidate people rather than concentrating on adapting to the market.

Beautiful that's an award winning reply.  ;D

Double on both, you nailed it. Their income is not sufficient to cover the debt after the investment companies bled Getty dry and left the near dead carcass. Anyone who reads anything about stocks and investments can find how Getty and iStock are on life support.

My suggestion is, sell iStock to someone who cares, who has the money, like Google. Problem is, Getty went with ESP and folded all our assets into their Getty servers, renumbered, changed the file data, restructured everything. We're trapped.

I don't see anything changing for our benefit, and possibly getting even worse.

Autumn is coming...and this means...exciting news!! for contributors from a new CEO...

Imagine, if they had just kept it in the family, spent all the energy focussing on the market instead of playing with investor groups and loading the company with debt.

I hope my friends at istock and getty will survive whatever winter storm is coming...

Sounds to me purely like a corporate debt shuffle to stay a float. The left pocket pays the right pocket and then the right pays back the left when the dust settles.

IIRC Getty was already going down the tubes, with a disintegrating share price, when they sold it. That was their way of milking the dying cow. But the vultures who bought/resold it seem to be able to milk cows even after they're dead.
